We’ve updated our Payment Plan program and wanted to clearly explain the changes we have made and how they will impact you.

We have not made any changes your existing payment plan(s), and won't, unless you request them.

This week we’ve rolled out changes that impact new orders placed using our Payment Plan program.

  • All new orders placed using our Payment Plan program will require a minimum downpayment: 25% of the order total or $500, whichever is less.
  • The downpayment will be due at the time the order is placed.
  • We have changed the length of the payment plans we offer, they now range from 2 to 20 months.
  • A $100 minimum order is still required to be eligible for payment plans.

You can read more about our Payment Plan program here:  https://www.logos.com/faq#PaymentPlans

We've also updated how payment plans can be combined. You have two options.

  • Create an additional payment plan
    • Purchase new books, put at least 25% of today’s purchase price on your credit card (or $500, whichever is less), along with the $5 payment plan fee

    • Pay the remaining balance over the months allowed, based on the size of your purchase.

    • This new payment plan stands on its own. If your purchase allows a 6 month plan, it will be a new payment plan for 6 months with its own payment plan fee. If you already had one, two, three, or more other payment plans in place, they will all be unaffected by this new plan, and will stack up, all with their own balances, due dates, and individual fees.

    • If you prefer, we can organize your multiple plans so that they are all charged on the same day of the month, but they will still appear as separate charges on your credit card whether on the same day or not.

  • Add the balance to an existing payment plan
    • Purchase new books, put at least 25% of today’s purchase price on your credit card (or $500, whichever is less)

    • Pay the remaining combined balance over the months allowed, based on the size of your purchase. Note:  If the length of your existing plan is greater than 12 months, the length of your new combined plan will be either the number of months allowed with your new purchase, or 12 months, whichever is greater.

    • This addition, or combining of payment plans, allows you to only be charged one $5 payment plan fee per month, and consolidates your balance so your credit card is only charged once per month.

    • For accounting purposes please note—the 25% “down” on any combined payment plan goes to pay off your oldest balance first, and is not a payment on the specific title(s) in your new purchase.

I am on a payment plan right now. It's certainly my last plan as my country (Madagascar) isn't on your list of approved locations!

What were the reasons for these changes? I rely heavily on payment plans due to the exchange rate between the USD and AUD.

Why? What was wrong with the old method? There are so many products I cannot add to my plan now (TDOT, Barth's Church Dogmatics and BECNT just to name a few) because it will be cut down from over 20 months to just 12 months. You've practically ended any future purchases from me.

That issue has been discussed extensively in another thread. Note especially Bob Pritchett's post 779455.asp He also made other posts as the thread continued.

Glen, I do not know if it was intentional or not, but I have noticed that a number of countries are missing from the list.

Cayman, Turks and Caicos, Haiti, St. Vincent, Grenadines. St. Lucia, Holland, St. Martin, etc.

It this was not intentional, then it may be easier to list the countries (I know you do not want to sound negative) that you do not accept payments from.

Lynden, where can I find this list? I'm from St Lucia and and I want to see it for myself. Wishlist deletions may be coming up soon. I wasn't all up in arms about the 25% down because after I cleared my large payment plan a few months ago, I decided I wouldn't go more than 3 months on any future plan. [Currently owing one payment on a two-month plan.] But, but ... if payment plan money from St Lucia isn't good enough for Logos, then maybe money for instant purchases isn't good enough either. If deliberately excluded (and not an error that will be fixed), I want to know why these countries (particularly St Lucia) aren't on the list.

Thanks Bruce. Well, I'm assuming St Lucia used to be on there before, and isn't there now because of the updates? I'll wait to hear what Faithlife has to say about this; no sense getting irritated over something that may turn out to be an error, or that they may have a valid [???] reason for.

Sounds reasonable to me. If they accepted before, seems like an omission.

Nothing has changed in regard to what countries we can accept orders from on payment plan terms.  We're reviewing the list, which may be out of date, and will make the appropriate updates.

Thanks for pointing out these discrepancies.

Glenn,

FYI: I have just received this in the mail. Both yet more pushing of payment plans ... but, as far as I can tell, out of date under the new scheme. It does not mention deposits, and the basket does not allow plans longer than 12 months. (I was curious if I understood the changes ... payment plans mean that it is too easy to become laden with debt ... I like to be debt free :-) )

Thanks for sharing this Martin.  It appears that there are some legacy offers in the system that have not been updated.  We're doing another audit of these this morning to make sure we're setting the right expectations in our communications.

The reality of the new system is that expensive sets like the Anchor Yale Bible, and even expensive package upgrades, will be out of reach for a significant portion of Logos customers.  But that may not be so bad.  Personally, I will pick a few of the Anchor Yale Bible books that I need, and avoid going in debt for the others that I would seldom if ever use.  And I really don't need a big new package every time Logos upgrades.

In the long run, Logos / Faithlife will be helped by getting their money quicker on sales, and customers will be helped by spending far less and accumulating far less debt.  It all works out for good.
