(Sorry but had trouble making pictures smaller)

For those of us in the UK some of the publications by Blackwell were our significant student purchases for theological studies. Another post is on McGrath's books, a number published by Blackwell - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/7312/783802.aspx#783802 In particular his Christian Theology.

The other book that has stood the test of time in my bookshelf is The Modern Theologians edited by David Ford and now in its Revised 3rd edition by David Ford and Dr Rachel Muers

(and - even as a layman and ESL speaker - McGrath' Christian Theology was my first entry into that whole field. Highly recommended.)

Never saw that cover before - the current edition has a picture of Christ or a saint carrying a cross with a halo looking like a life-saver ring, but I think mine looked like this:
