1. You may want to repeat this exercise with NRSVCE as top priority Bible and D-R as top priority Bible to confirm that the behavior does not change with regards to relationship to default Bible verse mapping.

2. Open the following resources:

  • M‘Swiney, James. Translation of the Psalms: Translation of the Vulgate Text. St. Louis, MO; London: B. Herder, Publisher; Manresa Press, 1901.
  • M‘Swiney, James. Translation of the Psalms: Translation of the Hebrew Text. London; St. Louis, MO: B. Herder, Publisher; Manresa Press, 1901.
  • M‘Swiney, James. Translation of the Psalms and Canticles with Commentary. St. Louis, MO; London: B. Herder, Publisher; Manresa Press, 1901.

Note that these expectedly reflect the difference in numbering between the Masoretic and the LXX Psalms. This is reflected in the indexes on the resources.

3. First right click on the Vulgate Psalm 23. The Bible index is VUL-W so the reference shows in the normal manner.

4. Now click on the 24 beside the 23 ie. on the MT number. Now add additional tag shows noting the BHS verse map.

BUG? Note that the right menu carries many more tags than it did for the Vulgate 23 which is what applies naturally for the text.

5.Switch to the Hebrew Text and open the Context Menu from the 22 i.e. the Vulgate number. BUG: one does not get the mapping entry as one does with the non-native entry on the Vulgate side.

BUG: the tags are not shown in the Context Menu where one would expect something similar to the image immediately above.

6. Open the Context Menu on the 23. BUG: same notes re:missing tags.

7. Switch to the Commentary resource (note these are really 3 pieces of a single resource although there is nothing to show that). Here the behavior is exactly what I would expect: the verse maps are identified and both Context Menus show the tagging.

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Looks like it's working correctly. There is a reference hyperlink on 24, but not on 23, so when you clicked on 23, the right-hand side of the menu was showing your plain text selection. When you clicked on 24, your selection now contains a reference hyperlink, so data that is linked to references (and is not actually embedded in the book) appears.

The commentary resource works as you would expect, because there is a hyperlink on both the 23 and 24.

(I don't know why that inconsistency exists in the books, but that's why the program is behaving the way it is.)
