TIP of the day: Manipulating layout tiles

Yes, I'm procrastinating on tagging while I get some answers on odd behavior.

1.One can drag and drop a tab ... light gray will show where you are placing the tab when you create a new tile.

2. The results of the above action of adding a vertical tile.

3. The gray shows creating a new horizontal tile ... note that the position of the tab can be very sloppy. Look at the gray area to determine if you are getting what you want.

5. One can drag a vertical or horizontal tile boundary to increase or decrease the area of the tiles.

6. If one double clicks on a tile boundary, the tiles sharing that side will be equalized - same width or same height.

7. Neither dragging or clicking on the "fixed narrow tiles" of tools will work.

8. However one can drag and drop the tab to another tile. Note how when dragging a tab into another tile a thick orange line shows where you are positioning the tab.

9. The results of the drag and drop with the layout automatically reclaiming the empty space from the tool panel's original position.
