BUG : Funky behavior in Prayer List sidebar on HomePage

Thank you for the quick fix with 6.11 SR-1. I can now get to the HomePage (and other locations) without crashing.

But there’s something pretty funky going on with the HomePage left sidebar, for Reading Plans and Prayer Lists. The scrolling is very erratic, and the sections frequently duplicate themselves. Clicking on one item may close another, if and when either decides to close at all. Very difficult to move around there.

I'm using a Macbook Air, OS 10.9.5, with 8GB.

In deed hardly the smoothest of scrolling but the other problems don't seem to be evident on my MacBook. (10.11.4 with 8 GB) .

Any reason not to be on the latest OSX?

Any reason not to be on the latest OSX?

As I mentioned to Alabama on another thread, I don't like unpleasant surprises. I've lost way too many hours and days of work over the years, when I've updated something, only to discover that a bunch of my other programs either won't work at all or need to be updated, often with a cost, and lots of my time.

For instance, I just checked to see if OS 10.11 is compatible with Crossover 13, which I'm using for some older PC programs, especially for my finances and budgeting. If I upgrade to El Capitain, I'll have to immediately purchase the $60 Crossover 15, and spend time configuring it, just to access my checkbook. Not easy for us old missionaries!

But I'm open to advice and encouragement, Mike [;)].

    Hi Tom,

You do have a conundrum to tackle. Something has to give.

Unfortunately when folk report 'user interface' problems then the OS supplier is likely to have updated the interface in later iterations of the software and the standard response it 'Let's all get to a level playing field and then we will look at the problem'.

With moving to a Mac you (perhaps unknowingly) also moved into an environment where delaying upgrades for any length of time is likely to lead to segregations in performance, adoption of new Operating Software happens quickly and with very few hiccups.

It is partly the desire of Apple to have its users on the 'level playing field' that makes them give these updates out for free. Indeed on one of my machines I run the latest Beta versions just for fun and even there the glitches have been minimal.

    So for advice and encouragement.

Get somebody to give you an old windows PC so that you can keep it and your old financial records in the attic.

Get some modern software for your current accounts -- there is plenty to peruse in the app store.

Embrace the wonderful world of OSX and run with the hare during these last years and live life to the full.

(talking of nasty surprises -- in draft this is nicely spaced and paragraphed -- when published all the formatting is lost :-( )

Some good food for thought, Mike. I will indeed consider it. And thank you for taking the time to write such an extensive response.
