1. Your home page can be a Christian "newspaper" fed by news.faithlife.com which draws from the following sites:

  • Gospel Coalition
  • Christianity Today
  • Desiring God
  • Samaritan's Purse
  • Pastors.com
  • World Magazine
  • Christian Post
  • Christian Today
  • Religion News
  • Church Leaders
  • The Aquila Report
  • Start 2 Finish
  • Relevant Magazine
  • Crosswalk
  • Gospel Herald
  • Mission Network News
  • A Holy Experience
  • Baptist Press
  • Christian Broadcasting Network News
  • Christian Examiner
  • Christian News
  • Christian Press
  • Christian Telegraph
  • Ministry Matters
  • One News Now
  • Tru News
  • World Religion News

These sites span everything from world news of interest to Christians to denomination-specific news perspectives to pastoral aids to questionable news sources. As users you may suggest additional sites - I've requested a Reformed Church site, an Orthodox site and another world religion site. I would suggest that all traditions having base packages in Logos should be represented by their best available sites.

This is a shot of my home page with only the news feed on but some news sources turned off.

2. Using the gear icon in the upper right of the home page one may request that the Faithlife News feed be displayed or ignored.

3. One can also access the Faithlife news directly at news.faithlife.com. Note that it refreshes every 15 minutes.

4. One the site one can sort the entries into any of three sort sequences - most recent, number of times shared and number of times retweeted

5. There is also a search box.

6. An example of a search on Orthodox.

7. You may access you Faithlife Account and Logout from your avatar.

The About menu allows you to obtain information regarding Faithlife News, select your desired news sources, suggest additional news sources ...

8. The Faithlife News option takes you to a web page providing information on the various ways you can access Faithlife News:

  • iOS app
  • daily email
  • social media - Facebook or Twitter
  • bookmark news.faithlie.com
  • Chrome browser extension
  • enable in Logos desktop software
  • Wordpress plugin
  • RSS feed

Note this allows but doesn't require integration with other Faithlife products.

9. From the Channels option you are taken to a page where you may select/deselect news sources to meet your needs. This is also where you may request additional sites be added ... an action highly recommended if your tradition has appropriate sites not included at this time.

10. If you wish to advertise on the site, you are taken to a 3rd party site for information.

11. If you are having trouble with the apps or site, there is a page to contact the support center.

12. You can add the Faithlife news to the shortcut bar via drag and drop if you want easy access but don't wish to use the Homepage.

13. And how was the addition of this feature in Logos advertised? Well, the SR-2 release of Logos 6.3 has a line about it. So you had to either read the Faithlife blog or be one very curious user who wanted to translate this mention into actual application behavior.

This should be updated to say this is a Logos only feature not Verbum, even though a user may have purchased some of these periodicals - and even though there is no corresponding news article feature that Faithlife would consider "suitable" for Verbum users. I guess it's just a bizarre form of product differentiation.

I somehow totally missed this announcement so thanks for bringing it to our attention MJ. I'm going to have to consider what works best for me but it is nice to know that it is an option.

A Verbum user cannot get the Faithlife News feed on their Homepage as the "announcement" says. However, I believe they have access through all the other methods.

This feature does not run off periodicals within Logos but rather is a feed of other internet news sites. I've not used it long enough to make in guesses as to how it selects the articles.

It doesn't work for me. I tried clicking and sliding, but still can't turn anything from ON to OFF.

I would again like to request that this be made available to Verbum users. I read some of those sites, it's just another opportunity to take me out of Verbum to some other tool. It seems like unnecessary stratification of the products IMHO.

This is great.  I was trying to figure out how to choose the resources through my Logos.  Now I see it's through the website.  I need to go back YEARS  to figure out all this information!  thanks MJ
