NIV - 1978 Version?
I suspect this is not a possibility for some legal reason, but I would love to have the 1978 version of the NIV text available. Can this be done? I often find myself having the hardcopy version open beside me so I can cross-check what I am reading online in Logos.

It would be good to have but since FL are no longer allowed to sell licenses to the 1984 version I don't see it happening for the 1978.

Logos sells the 1984 version, as an Anglicanised version, since the 2011 has not been made into a version for the British market yet. I have it and use it all the time, still available on the logos website if you can live with British spellings

I overlooked that option Phil, thanks it may be helpful to someone. Now only if there was a way to get the 1978 version.

The NIV 2011 is available as an Anglicised version - https://www.logos.com/product/33548/the-holy-bible-new-international-version-anglicised

So the 84 NIV Anglican is essentially the same as the other 84? I hope that makes sense...🤔

Essentially at a surface level.
Spellings of some words are different and some words have been changed to make them more meaningful to a British person.
Under the surface the big difference is the Anglicised version does not have the reverse-interlinear tagging that the standard one does.

Anglicanised
That's an awesome word. I wish they'd make a Baptistized version as well. [:P]

For the avoidance of doubt is should be noted that the NIV and it variations have been Anglicised rather than Anglicanised -- if it had been the latter then we would have a preponderance of bishops and no elders.

Hi Phil. Long time no see.
You fail to mention that until recently Logos would not sell us poor folk in Australia any version NIV.
You most probably use the Logos Anglicised version because it came in a Lutheran package which somehow slipped through our border control. Now how do I know that .......?
See you round.

Stephen,

heavy accordance user, supplement accordance with some logos items. The Niv 78 was one of the first modules I picked up as I am a church that uses it, so have to preach from it.

Was the 1978 NIV ever available in Logos?

Since Logos was begun long after 1984 I seriously doubt that the older NIV ever made it to Logos or even ay other Bible software ever. I would be very happy to be corrected and hear of it's existence in some electronic format but I am completely unaware of one.

I live in Australia and have always had the NIV in Logos. Maybe I got a license with LL2.0 that I bought from Koorong Bookstore, don't quite remember. I know where there was a point in time when the distributed software on CD's and they had to send updated files to me for NIV on a separate CD, not part of the bundle but never had an issue getting it from Logos. Not sure why you have had that experience Stephen. I take it that you now have it Stephen.

I am wondering if that was a personal database. I have used Accordance since 1.0, and while I have never owned everything they have I do not remember them offering that.. IF they did I thank you for that interesting information and I have learned something new...lots of things to learn and many surprises like intros case. [:O]
