Damian McGrath:

I was trying to search for items in my library indexed to the catholic liturgical calendar and I get no results:

or as I ran it today - note it is build by the system not manually and it does not work ...

Andrew Batishko (Faithlife):

Try searching instead for: {Milestone <CatholicCalendar Ord Time 23 Sun C>}

See the section of the help file on the Milestone syntax for an explanation of why this in needed in this situation: https://ref.ly/logosres/logos4help;hw=Advanced_Searching;off=20897

Yes, this works ... as run today

However, it does not address the issue that the system builds a bad search string. If Dave gets his corrected, Damian and I should at least get acknowledged Zip it! Yes, I do understand why this slipped through the first time ... but not why when I referenced it in Dave's thread it was still ignored.

We'll reevaluate the current behaviour, but this is currently by design.

It's analogous to starting a search from a Bible milestone in a Bible; this creates a regular reference search, not a {Milestone} search. If you want to run a {Milestone} search, you have to construct that manually.

Is it worth adding a second option to the context menu to search for milestones? That could be useful for many datatype references.

I don't understand in that the current behavior yields zero results not even finding the instance that one initiated the search on but I'll let Frs. Damian and Devon weigh in.

You chose a Reference search so the query was built correctly. The latter result is analogous to expecting a bible to contain <bible> references in bible text, but it will find results in footnotes and non-bible text. I couldn't find any references for <RCLCalendar = Proper 23 Sun C> in library, so it appears that Lectionarys are not a popular text for quotations!

{Milestone <RCLCalendar = Proper 23 Sun C>} shows that there are variations of that datatype value in two other lectionaries (in the same way that there are variations of Jn 3:16 in different bibles).

Thanks Dave. I get it now and support Mark's suggestion as that is what is most often wanted. Not only are lectionaries not heavily quoted, the chances of them being quoted and tagged is currently very small.

I think this would be a good solution.

It could be analogous to how currently when you select a lemma the context menu offers a couple of options for a morph type search. When we select a reference, a Milestone search should be one of the options available.

Yes

It‘s time this was implemented.
