BUG: visual filter menu item disappearing act

So I open my resource and look for my notes. Wait? Where are they? Not to be seen (no "Notes and Highlights" check box):

I wait a bit. I tried the Find box. Nada. I closed the resource and reopened it. Here it was:

I have noticed this sort of thing more often in the last couple weeks. Either the menu now requires time to "populate" (as opposed to just being a fixed menu feature) or else it connects with the Internet, I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that something has changed because it did not use to do this (at least not visibly). The other thing I am sure of is that this is disruptive.

Have you checked to see if it is rebuilding indexes? If so have you checked for disk errors?
