in the wiki for new features for 4.0b i found this one (under Resources, 2nd one)

Resources support navigating by data type levels, highlighting, and search results.

What / how  exactly is this feature?

There are now new up/down (Previous/Next) arrow icons on the Locator bar at the top of each resource (if you don't see them, your Locator bar might not be on; you can turn it on/off using Ctrl+Shift+L):

The dropdown menu to the left of the arrows controls what size unit the arrows will move you forward or backward in your resource:

What shows up on that menu will depend on the resource. Some resources don't have page numbers for example, so they won't let you go to the Previous/Next page and Page won't be on that menu, but others will have it. You see Filter Highlight in this one because I had a visual filter turned on in that resource when I did the screen capture. Highlight will show up in any resource that has Highlighting turned on in it. Search Result will show up if you have run a Search and have the Search panel still open. I'm not sure exactly what the criteria are for when it shows up and what resources it shows up in (might depend on whether you ran a Basic Search vs. Bible Search and whether you're looking at a Bible or some other book).

The keyboard shortcuts for Previous and Next are Alt+Up and Alt+Down

Mark Barnes' video on new features in 4.0b might also cover this, but I can't remember: http://www.4-14.org.uk/logos-bible-software-tutorial-videos#40b

UPDATE: This needs to be documented on the wiki, by the way. I couldn't even find it in Morris Proctor's excellent  two-volume Bible Software Training Manual. It doesn't look like he's updated it for the new 4.0b features yet. I'm totally swamped right now though, so don't have time to document it other than this right here.

Thus the reason for my questions Big Smile

Thanks for all the info. i will work on trying this all out. When i get a grip on it i can add a wiki page (its way late here and my eyes are going crossed Confused  ).  i had already learned that 4.0b finally got the granularity down (topic/chapter/book) for using these arrow (asked for it in Nov).

Thanks much for all the info !!!

P.S. did you learn a lot at Morris's seminar ?

I learned a few tricks I hadn't known about before, but mostly minor things (e.g., double-clicking on the blank space to the right of the plus sign next to a tab is a shortcut for clicking on the plus sign and then clicking on the first Parallel Resource in the list; Ctrl+Shift+W is a shortcut for close all -- I prefer keyboard shortcuts to toolbar shortcuts so I'm now using that exclusively; etc.). Also, even though I already knew most of what he taught, it was good to have everything reinforced. Morris is an excellent teacher. It was fun meeting Forum MVPs Martha (MJ Smith) and Richard DeRuiter there, too. And we got discounts on some Logos books... Smile

i was curious since i've noticed several people on the forum which attended the seminar but hadn't heard much on their experience. Its great that you enjoyed it and learned new things. Also think that meeting other forum users would be fun and interesting.

Thank you for sharing.

Done: Navigating a Resource (controls in the Locator bar)
