I know how to create a daily reading plan for bibles or individual books. But I am wondering is it possible to create a reading plan based on a collection. Say for instance, I have a collection of the writings of Thomas Oden.
The only way I know of would be a plan for each work or resource in the collection. Maybe someone with more knowledge knows of a way to do this. If so I would be interested in that method as well.
Sorry Kenneth and Fred,
I asked for this way back in the early beta period and all I ever got was "filed as a request." [:'(] Maybe you can help push it into something they'll consider.
I posted my own thread about this just a few hours after Kenneth did - I didn't notice this one until later. Count me as someone who would value this feature.
Now, as I think about it, I can see that the new automatically-generated collections could pose some difficulty for reading plans. How would the software accommodate a new resource that matches the collection criteria, once a reading plan has been set up?
So maybe what we're after isn't really the ability to assign a collection to a reading plan - what we want is just the ability to designate more than one resource at the moment the reading plan is created.
Bob,
I would take either of those options.
But my "solution" for books added to dynamic collections would be to tack them on at the end in alphabetical order. Not the most robust solution, but easy to anticipate.

That makes sense to me. How should those additional books affect the reading plan, if this were done, do you think? Should the remaining readings be lengthened in order to complete the new amount of material by the original finish date? Or should the reading plan be extended so that the amount of daily reading remains the same despite the additional books?
-B.
Presuming that most people massage reading plans to make the daily ammount fit their schedule (as I do) I would just lengthen the time, and keep the same pattern. Of course my presumption may be just wrong.
But seeing that reading plans can be created with date deadlines or with amount to cover as the pattern, the end result should take that into account.
So....
If the reading plan was set to finish by date X, keep date X and just add more to the daily regimen. Else, lengthen the plan accordingly.
i would like a feature such as this; my use case is i create reading plans for magazines/journals to read through an issue a month. it is a real pain to reset thw plan and layouts for the next issue when done...wish it would just go in sequence like when you jump around in a commentary series.
I would also like to create a customize reading plan. The one I had in Logos 3 was pretty close to what I wanted. Here is what I want to do. For the O.T., I want to read Gen - Mal, daily Psalms and a daily Proverb. For the N.T., I'd like to do Matt - John, Acts - Rev. How do I set this up? I am aware that I won't be able to do Psalm 119 in a day.
Thanks for the help!
Ok. I did some digging and found how to customize the selection range. It went like this: Gen -Mal
Matt-John Acts-Rev. I used the pipe symbol to seperate each range. My only problem is telling Logos to give me a daily proverb and maybe daily psalm.
How do I do the last item? Daily proverbs & psalm?

L3 offered Daily Proverb as a 'predefined' option but never Daily Psalm. L4 doesn't offer either.
You can manually set up Daily Proverb entering following in the Range and Set Number of Sessions to 31
Pr 1;Pr 2;Pr 3;Pr 4;Pr 5;Pr 6;Pr7;Pr8;Pr9;Pr10;Pr11;Pr12;Pr13;Pr14;Pr15;Pr16;Pr17;Pr18;Pr19;Pr20;Pr21;Pr22;Pr23;Pr24;Pr25;Pr26;Pr27;Pr28;Pr29;Pr30;Pr31
I haven't tried setting it up for Psalms but suggest trying a similar approach. But it will get messy due to Psalms being different length so not as effective. Possibly better to break it into smaller reading plans
What is missing though is the option to say you want to repeat this plan x number of times.
Edit Note: Forgot to mention this won't be a perfect daily proverb it does mix and spit Pr 21 and 22 unfortunately. In that case I just ignore the suggested readings and simply read Pr 21 one day and Pr 22 the next, marking off each day as done.
This would be a little time consumming if you had to type it, but cut and past this into your plan and it will give you what you are looking for, this is for 2012, Feb has 29 days.
This does Daily Proverb, Gen thru Job, Ecc thru Mal, Psalms spread through the year, Gospel spread though the year, Act thru Rev.
