I just got an email from a competitor that this is available exclusively through them.  That is not cool.  Logos should have the weight to make things like BAR and Carta available without having other companies get the jump on them.  This is very disappointing.

The update hasn't been available in Logos for several years.  I know that this issue has been discussed on the forum previously.  I would like to see also BAR back in Logos again.

Well you  must remember for whatever reason Faithlife is a hard company to work with it seems... I say that in that while it seems to have a great relationship with, over the years  some publishers have broke with Logos, most of who have come back, but this on again off again relationship history suggests that there are reasons (it may well be reasons that give us users an advantage, no idea really, just didn't want to imply anything bad about FL other than it seems to play hard ball and some companies may not want to play).

BAR is a valuable resource. I urged Faithlife to find a way to get this resource available again!

Likely more effective will be to urge BAS to get the resource back in Logos. Something along the lines of an email stating that you will NEVER EVER consider buying BAR unless it is available in Logos will work wonders, especially if hundreds of people send the message and make the point.

When it comes to Journals FL have failed their customers. It is no wonder long term Logos users are turning to other companies for Journal options that provide much regular updates at a more reasonable price. FL had a golden opportunity to have a subscription service that customers would have been interested in taking up if done correctly and the horse has well and truly bolted now. Recovery from this position is going to be most difficult for them to achieve. I do hope they can find a way.

I'm feeling tempted by this offer to be honest.

It is very tempting DAL because FL has dropped the ball on journals - argueably one of the biggest blunders they have ever made.

I have "straw polled" a good few of these and not too many have more volumes that Logos does. So unless you are desperate for certain things I and you already have the full offering by Logos, I would council caution.

However I too am disappointed by the inability of Logos to add to the journal list and the recent issues of even existing offerings.

Come on Logos, talk to the publishers - get it done - please!

Hear, Hear!!!

I have just about given up on Carta ever being available. Such great resources. Such a shame not to have them in Logos.

Journals are at the heart research and writing and teaching! Definitely want to encourage keeping Journals up to date and adding new ones!

Realize this is more a tease than help since Logos is not offering it but just got this email today...:

8 Reasons Why You Should Read BAR

Dear friend,

One of the greatest thrills for volunteers on an archaeological excavation is finding and holding a simple pot that was held thousands of years ago by a person just like you. Suddenly, in a little pot, you feel the sweep of humanity—of which you are a part.

bar

When I set out to explore Biblical history over 40 years ago, there was nothing available to put archaeological artifacts in context for the non-scholar. In fact, if you weren’t working at a dig, you probably wouldn't have even heard about them. So I created Biblical Archaeology Review to bring these discoveries to light for people who are interested in Biblical archaeology. People just like you.

Today, more than a quarter million readers from all walks of life gain insight from each issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, or BAR, as it’s come to be known around the world. Here in BAR, curious people from across the globe learn about the fascinating world of archaeology and what it can tell us about the Bible and human history.

Let me share 7 reasons why you should be looking at Biblical Archaeology Review:

1. We publish BAR for people like you

2. BAR makes the Bible come alive

3. Full-color photos transport you to Biblical lands

4. BAR examines the Bible’s historical accuracy

5. BAR explores both Hebrew Bible and New Testament archaeology

6. BAR resolves many mysteries—and introduces you to new ones

7. We keep it fun and engaging for you!

As you can see the 8th reason was not much a reason, unfortunately I missed the big 8 or I would have changed it to 7 as well.

PS:Hapax did give 8 from the email, maybe 8 is you really want to find out ;)

Look at this great deal! $99 bucks for BAR!!! I bet you the Logos version would cost double even though the "A" software surpasses Logos when it comes to graphics.

Wow $37.97 for a year worth of access! Hmm, I may just pay the $99 on the other software and own them in my computer and mobile device. Though it kind of sucks to have to have yet another Bible software just for this. But hey, I may get CARTA too to make it worthwhile 😁
