Help with List Formatting in Sermon Documents

If I have a numbered list that I am using for an outline in a sermon document, and somewhere in that list I want the full text of a passage to appear, I know that I can do that by clicking "Add slides from selected references." The problem is that when I do this, it disrupts the automatically generated numbers in the list. In the example below, I have a numbered list with five lines. After I insert the text of John 3:16, the numbering gets messed up. Is there a way to fix this, or is it a limitation of the currently available formatting options? Thanks.

I would make each numbered point a HEADING 1 line. It would be automatic numbering, but would probably work better than what you are doing now.

Type your first heading, change it to HEADING 1 format. Please your cursor after the last letter of the heading and hit enter. This will then allow you to insert NORMAL formatted text under each outline point.

Hope this help some until the experts advise.

    Myke,

Thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately, in the context of an actual workflow, I am already using headings for main points and normal (numbered/outline) text in the body of the document under those headings. I merely created a simplified scenario I could take a screenshot of to illustrate the problem I am having. The document I am currently working on is 9 pages long when exported to Microsoft Word. I definitely do not want to have to assign a heading to every single line/paragraph in order for Bible quotations not to mess up the outline numbering. Perhaps I should ask my question this way -- is there a way to fix this numbering issue when dealing with normal/non-heading text? Are there any workarounds for that scenario? Again, thank you for the help!

I am having the same issues after outlining in the manner described.

And the more indented points I make, the worse the numbering system seems to look.

This was actually my reasoning to get onto the logos 7 portion of the forum. To post the same.

We intentionally designed the automatic list numbering to be interrupted by non-list paragraphs. Clicking that button automatically inserts a passage paragraph at the same indent level as the paragraph that the reference appeared in. If you click on the passage paragraph and increase its indent by one level, the list numbering should resume as expected.

I don't think we considered list numbering when we decided how passage paragraphs should be added. We should probably automatically indent them in this situation. I'll add it to our list.

    Thanks for the report!

Sure enough, this fixed my problem! Thanks!

I think this would be a good idea, as the solution you proposed would never have occurred to me. Having the software do it automatically for users seems like a good idea.

I've made this change, and it will be included in the next release. Thanks again for the feedback.

Add to you list a manual override so that the user can renumber the list to fit the outline

This has been fixed in 7.8 (7.8.0.0031).

Can we get this fixed to actually be more like a word document. I have gotten to the point I don't even use number lists any more because of the limited functionality of it. I am using Logos ten and if I want to type in something outside the number list it all goes back to 1. Not to mention, I don't like using little a as my first step from the main number list. Can you give us more functionality on this, please?
