Nice! I was waiting for this one: NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible Notes

From the previews I've seen I don't need it. It's basically a brief rewording of the IVP Bible Background Commentaries edited by the same authors!

I would have preferred the Archeological Study Bible but Logos doesn't carry it. I got it from Accordance and IMHO is better than this condensed version of the IVPBBC. Besides, the so called NIV Cultural Study Bible also comes in other versions. Still, I don't need it.

The below post claims that the study bible and background commentary are different enough to warrant purchasing both.  Doesn't say why in detail though

Of course they would say that, they want to sell. Up until now, all I've seen are reworded condensed comments. Nothing new really, except for some pictures if anything.

I'm not saying "Don't buy it," but it'd be like buying the Preacher's Outline and Sermon Bible and then buying the condensed version which is the Teacher's Outline and Study Bible. Virtually the same thing even though they have different names.

I just checked the link you posted and there's another person saying it's pretty much a rewording of what's already found in the IVPBBC -- Pretty much confirming what I just said, except I've read more samples from both the Old Testament and New Testament.

The professor mentioned there maybe just loves to buy books. There is no way he has reviewed the entire thing, so I highly doubt his recommendation. I have not reviewed the entire thing either, but it'd be too much of a coincidence that everything I've read is virtually the same. It's like Walton and Keener just plagiarized their own work hahaha 👍😁👌 😂😜 Oh well!

DAL is right in his assessment of the NIV Cultural Background study bible. I have in another software and compared it with the IVPBBC and found nothing substantively new.

Thank you DAL and Ted.  I think I will still stick with the prepub and evaluate from there.  It seems to be a tad more colorful with charts, graphs, etc so even if the notes aren't as useful as hoped, maybe the other stuff with it will be

I just bought the kindle edition for $3.99. I'm not missing anything by getting it in Logos.

So you all think if you already have the background commentary from IVP that it is not worth getting these notes?

The answer can be very subjective. To me, is not worth $34.99 on prepub or more after prepub. $3.99 was the right price for a short on the go reference. The pictures are nice,  but we all know that the quality diminishes greatly in Logos; especially, on study Bibles. The ESV Study Bible is a classic example. But again, is up to each individual's preferences and how much their going to use it.
