Adding a PDF to a Note Document
I would like to link a PDF document to a Note Document in Logos 7. Can it be done and, if so, how do I do it? Thanks in advance for your help.

As far as I know, Logos does not have the ability to add a PDF to anything in their ecosystem. So the answer is "no."

You can insert this format into your note and the PDF will open in Acrobat . . .
file:///C:/Bible_TheRev/bible_pdf/BlessingOT_murtonen.pdf
This is the link to my resources in a folder on the C:\ drive > Bible_TheRev > bible_pdf > PDFtitle.pdf
This may suffice . . .

I found this on ADOBE"s site and it leads me to believe that you can not get to a specific page if you are going through the file system.
Open a PDF file to a specific page
To target an HTML link to a specific page in a PDF file, add #page=[page number] to the end of the link's URL.
For example, this HTML tag opens page 4 of a PDF file named myfile.pdf:
<A HREF="http://www.example.com/myfile.pdf#page=4">
Note: If you use UNC server locations (\\servername\folder) in a link, set the link to open to a set destination using the procedure in the following section. If you use URLs containing local hard drive addresses (c:\folder\), you cannot link to page numbers or set destinations. With Adobe Acrobat 7.0 products, a link to a page number works only if you use HTTP or HTTPS locations. UNC server locations will only work if you use the set destinations method outlined in the following section of this document.

I do not know how it was done, but I do know that in a Logos Faithlife group about Greek grammar, a PDF chart was posted in the Documents section where it is shared. Thus, there are PDF documents in the Logos ecosystem.
If one uploads a PDF to the document section of a Faithlife group, then, if a link could be created in a note entry, then that method could be used to access a PDF from multiple Logos installations.
The prior methods posted on this forum are limited to system local file references. Thus, the PDF would have to be copied to identical file system locations to be referenced on different platforms.

Jerry ... thanks for the info ... much appreciated. However, I am using a MAC computer and not a WINDOWS computer. Could you help me format the link for a MAC? Also, do I just insert the link in the Note file or do I insert it using the LINK button?0

I’ve never installed Logos on my MacBookPro but I’m assuming the file location setup is most similar. Mac hard drive, c:\
There are two things: 1) the path to the resource so you know where it is, and a “modified” path inserted into a Logos Note.
Here’s the resource path on my system . . .
C:\Bible_TheRev\Studies\Theology\Christology\christology_ross.pdf
Here’s the “modified” path for insertion in a Logos Note . . .
file:///C:/Bible_TheRev/Studies/Theology/Christology/christology_ross.pdf
Do note these are “forward slashes” in the Logos Note not “back slashes.” The path to the resource uses back slash but the logos insert is forward. Small but significant point!
Now, when I Ctrl+Click, I'm assuming Cmd+Click, on the link it Logos it opens my PDF in Acrobat.
FWIW - I have a designated folder for all “Bible” things (which auto backs to Google Cloud and thus syncs with my other laptops, both Win10. Thus all files are on all machines, plus a backup). This way all resources are always available on all systems, and backed up.

I'm at work right now so I can not provide a screen shot, but....
If you need to know the file path,
1) open a terminal window. (Applications > Utilities)
2) navigate to the pdf in Finder.
3) drag & drop the pdf file onto the terminal windowthe path to the file will now be displayed in the terminal window. (this works with el Capitan, earlier versions you may have to right click the file and use get info to find the path).
Note: If you have spaces in the file name you will see back slashes in the file name such as "File Name.pdf" becomes "/users/YourUserName/FolderContainingYourFile/File\ Name.pdf"
Also unless you have made Adobe your default viewer the file will open in Preview.
Using the above path you would type
file:///users/YourUserName/FolderContainingYourFile/File\ Name.pdf
Also, if you use the create link button, you can omit the 'file://' part as LOGOS will supply that portion when it creates the link.
I'll try to provide more info when I get home from work.....

Hi Matt,
The following is Mac example: file://localhost/Users/Rick/Documents/Bible/Ministry/MM 2014-07.PDF
This would need to be inserted using the LINK (Address) button.
