Synchronization not picking up layouts and collections

I was forced to completely reinstall Logos 4 after a serious program problem.

After reinstalling version 4.0B SR1, I have none of my Collections, Layouts, Visual Filters, resource prioritizations and other personal files. I have all of my books (as far as I can tell), but nothing personal. I have Use Internet on. I have tried manually forcing synchronization. I have waited 12 hours to see if it took it a while to synch.

Oddly, the layout I was using on this computer before the reinstallation was picked up by my old computer, which I have not used in weeks. So my settings apparently were saved to the Logos server. If I add a Layout or Visual Filter to this computer, it shows up
in my old laptop. But this computer will not pick
up any of my old saved customizations or changes made to the other computer. Synchronization seems to only
work one way on this computer.

I am using Windows 7 x64, if it matters.

Harry, I've added this case to a bug report about incomplete Sync'ing http://wiki.logos.com/Bug$3a_4.0b_failed_to_sync_some_documents

If your old laptop is also v4.0b you can try copying some documents to the new installation ie. copy *.db files that are in the \Logos4\Documents folder (rename the existing *.db to *.old for safety).

I've noticed some intermittent synchronization weirdness too. Nothing I've been able to notice a pattern in and document for a bug report yet. But for example I changed the display font size in one of my Bible panels to make it larger. It synced and showed up larger on my other computer, but when I changed it back agian, it didn't change back on the other computer. And it even synced back eventually to the larger size on my main computer too. I don't remember exactly if this was the order in which I did things, but something was definitely behaving amiss. I'm keeping an eye open for it to see if I can catch it doing something like this again and get a reproducible case.

I've found Collections to be reluctant to sync to a new installation on several occasions whilst the other documents have been fine. I've had to do something out of the ordinary to sync Collections and that is not acceptable.

If your old laptop is also v4.0b you can
try copying some documents to the new installation ie. copy *.db files
that are in the \Logos4\Documents folde

    This got
everything back in line, except for the Collections. I tried copying the
ResourceCollectionManager.db file from the old laptop to the new one,
but this did not restore the Collections. The old file was 13K and the
new one is 10K. As soon as Logos started it reverted back to the
original 10K file and all of the collections were lost.

The only way I could get the Collections to synchronize between the 2 computers was to rename every collection on the old laptop. Then they were picked up by the new laptop. Now it appears that I can change a collection on one computer and it is picked up by the other. It works both ways.

Clearly all of this manual copying of hidden files is what the synchronizing was supposed to eliminate.

Yes. I don't like manual workarounds and your experience with Collections matches mine in that you still have to do something out of the ordinary.

This needs to be reported as a BUG. Are either of you able to report it in the beta version? The bug report will get more attention in that forum.

The wiki Bug Report I quoted earlier should be sufficient.

Oh, duh. I saw that and then promptly forgot you'd already reported it. Sorry.
