Logos Hanging With Latest Update
I just recycled my Logos after getting the latest update and now the Flash page comes up and sits there. I tried the ctrl - Logos icon and I never received the logon / password screen. I have attached all the current logs and was wondering if someone would take a look0488.Logos Log Files.zip

I'm having a similar problem - install happened on 2 different computers - one is okay the other displays the logos flash screen and then disappears and Logos does not appear to be running. However a check of the processes with Task Manager shows "Logos Bible Software' running and consuming 13% of the CPU - it's obviously doing something BUT not displaying the Logos interface window!

It may or may not be related. Please restart your computer. If that doesnt fix it, please enable and post logs (in a new thread).

Yes - restarted twice. When I finally shutdown my laptop there was an error message but it flashed by too quickly for me to see what it said and when I tried to duplicate the problem (try and start Logos and then shutdown the laptop) I could not get the message to reappear. And Logos is still hanging at the flash screen while the cpu and memory is still being consumed.

Restarts make no difference - done that a couple of times. Then deleted catalog.db and let Logos rebuild it (the attached logs show this happening). In my case the Logos flash screen flashes up and then disappears. In the last startup also got a message about preparing the library (which could take a while) as a result of deleting the catalog.db file.
The Logs show no activity for the last 20 minutes and yet the Task manager over that 20 minutes shows the Logos process running at 13% CPU almost continuously, using around 60MB memory, but having no disk or network activity.6355.Logos.281117.zip

Try starting Logos with Ctrl key held down.

From my side, I have attempted the ctrl key ‘start’ throughout these attempts with no success. From what I understand i should get a pop up logon screen but that screen never appears it just hangs on the flash page

Thanks Randy - I killed off the Logos process in Task Manager (about the fifth time I've done that) and then restarted Logos with the Ctrl-key held down and this time it started okay, and then rebuilt the catalog (since I had deleted it). Shutdown of Logos and then a restart normally now works okay and the Logos process is no longer sitting on 13% of the CPU (more like 0.3%, 600 MB of memory usage and periodic disk and network activity - which I would expect).
So bottom line - the Ctrl key start up seemed to fix the problem. Thanks again for that tip!

Yes. You should get a login screen. Just to confirm, are you 1) killing Logos from task manager (or rebooting) before ctrl + start?; and 2) holding down ctrl, launch logos while still holding down ctrl until login appears? If you are doing that and still not getting a login then we need to hear from Logos. You may need to contact tech support in the morning.
I haven't been following the forums closely of late so I don't know if this issue has been addressed. It seems to be some issue with login/accounts and IIRC goes back a few versions (7.10ish) from the trickle of related posts I do recall reading.

I was also able to start after the new update by holding down the CTRL key and then opening Logos. Unfortunately it only showed a white screen and when I tried to load a layout from the history the application just hung.

I wonder if this is related to upgrading to the Extended Feature Set. These lines in the Logos.log are related to some dataset resources ("Mackie Literary Genre Coding of the New Testament" and "Tooman Literary Genre Coding of the Old Testament", respectively):

Good news - I was able to get the CTRL Logos sign on working - apparently my left hand CTRL button is broken. Anyway using the right CTRL and Logos Icon I was able to get the sign on and getting everything working again. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

My Logos is still stuck. I've tried rebooting my computer, and starting Logos 7 with the CTRL key held down. Nothing is working.

Hi David! I'm sorry this is happening to you (and everyone else), I'm emailing you at the email you use to sign in to Logos.com and into the software in order to setup a date for me to call you and hopefully connect to your machine. I can fix the problem, but we need a bit more information to prevent it from happening in the future.
Thanks!

This has been fixed in 7.11 SR-1.
