A few sections in the passage guide (notably Biblical People/Places/Things) are quite resource intensive. We have plans to optimize these sections, but haven't had a chance to do so, yet.

In the meantime, if you wait for the Passage Guide to finish generating, you can collapse those sections and they'll stay collapsed when you run future guides (which will cause them to not do their work right away). If you want the content from these sections, expanding them one at a time ought to go faster.

That said, high CPU usage in general is not necessarily a bad thing: it just means that your processor is delivering its full value to you. Your laptop battery may drain faster, but it won't do any harm to your system. "Fixing" your high CPU usage would just result in your computer taking longer than necessary to complete its tasks.
