Hi!

I am using Logos 7 on a Mac and notice that I have Logos4 folder that is using 32GB of my disk space.

1. Why is this taking up so much of my disk space?

2. Can I delete this folder and not have any problems using my Logos 7?

~/Library/Application Support/Logos4

Please advise!

Thanks,

Bash

It holds your resources (possibly 24 GB) and documents (c. 1 GB) and necessary indexes (c. 6 GB), so it would be wise NOT to delete this folder!

Due to crashes I had re-installed Logos three times last year.

I then found that in my case I had a Logos4 folder that had all of the old data (as listed by Mr Hooton) and a new folder with all of the same.

I found that the Logos4 folder was not being updated and, in my case, was a duplicate folder.

Having free disk space I left it there and it still is not being updated.

Due to a bad choice MANY years ago, FL is stuck with having a “Logos4” folder even with fresh installs. As was mentioned, it is where resources, notes, indices, etc. are kept.

~/Library/Application Support/Logos4

Welcome Big Smile

Deleting your Logos4 folder in Application Support followed by launching Logos 7 will cause folder to be recreated along with needing you to sign-in followed by resource downloading and indexing.

Logos 4 Mac alpha pre-releases in 2009 used ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4 folder for application resources, indexes, documents, ... At the time, seemed OK to use Logos4 for Application name and corresponding Application Support folder, which also matched the Windows local folder naming convention. Turns out that renaming Application Support folder on OS X or macOS is technically challenging so Logos4 continues to be used. Lesson was learned for Verbum and Not, which have version agnostic Application Support folders. Logos 6 and newer on Windows also has version agnostic local folder.
