I *think* the problem is that when the resource was created, it smart-quote-ified the straight quotes in the examples. We'll get that fixed and republish the resource, but in the meantime I think if you change smart quotes to straight quotes in the examples, you'll do OK.

Can someone here tell me if the suggested search strings in Noncanonical Texts’ Use of the Bible: Dataset Documentation actually worked for you? They suggest a number of search examples, but none of them worked for me.
