I am trying to find every compound form of βιβάζω in BDAG. The simple lemma doesn't occur in the NT, but is found in several compounds with prepositional prefixes, such as αναβιβαζω. The search query I used was *βιβάζω under a Basic search, All Text (I've also used Heading text and Large text). I assumed that the boolean operator * would find words like επιβιβαζω, συμβιβαζω, etc., but I get no results.

Oddly, when I use *βιβ* I do get a number of hits, but also words I'm not looking for. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

mvh

One idea is linking BDAG with Lexham Analytical Lexicon to the Greek New Testament that has cognate words (click on a cognate word to change lemma location in linked lexicons):

Replicated wildcard search not finding cognate words in BDAG heading text. Also noted BDAG lacks lemma and root tagging.

Try *βιβαζω  i.e. without marks

Thanks. That's a helpful workaround.

Helpful plus puzzling since ἀναβιβάζω is not found:

Also noted BDAG lacks lemma and root tagging.

BDAG (and most lexicons) do have lemma tagging, but it uses the field "lemma-text". So you can search for lemma-text:*βιβαζω or use the field drop-down.

As you pointed out, the wildcard operator isn't working well for some reason. I think I'd be inclined to copy/paste the list of cognate words instead

ἀναβιβάζω, ἐμβιβάζω, ἐπιβιβάζω, καταβιβάζω, προβιβάζω, συμβιβάζω
