Well thank-you so much for the video! I will have to watch it later as I'm the head chef for the BBQ tonight. I watched the first few minutes and am absolutely looking forward to it.

This is where I live. The first picture that you see at the top left of the picture is the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. It's the funky looking swirl building. They incidentally are one of our customers.

So after looking through 25 Books Every Christian Should Read: A Guide To The Spiritual Classics I've decided that my first dip in these waters will be John of the Cross.

May I ask which of St. John of the Cross's works you are planning to read first?

And may I recommend one not to start with? The one not to start with is his most famous work, the one which has as its name a spiritual concept that is regularly and dramatically misused (including by Catholics): The Dark Night of the Soul. For many people, it is their introduction to St. John of the Cross... which to my mind is quite unfortunate, given that it's the latter part of a work that he never completed, a work the first part of which is The Ascent of Mount Carmel.
