About the same time there was a recent update of Windows 10, I haven't been able to open Logos.  When I try to open it, I get a few notes of the music at the beginning and then it quits.

Also, file explorer won't stay open.

Hi Ken - and welcome to the forums

Sorry to hear you are having problems

There have been similar reports by users with Intel 6400 HD graphics adapters - with a discussion and suggested workround on this at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/168976/976980.aspx#976980

If that isn't relevant to your situation, please enable diagnostic logging and post logs after a crash. Details at https://www.logos.com/support/windows/report-problem

Logos 7 requires OSX 10.11 or above as per https://www.logos.com/system-requirements

As per https://community.logos.com/forums/t/152976.aspx this was introduced with Logos 7.14.

Hopefully you will be able to upgrade your OS - but if there are problems please start a new thread and explain the issues there.

Logos wiki => OS X Troubleshooting includes link to the same forum thread => 7.14 and newer Mac releases need OS X 10.11 El Capitan or newer macOS: 10.12 Sierra or 10.13 High Sierra

Thankful for OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite free upgrade to OS X 10.11 El Capitan OR macOS 10.12 Sierra OR macOS 10.13 High Sierra: download Update using App Store. Thankful installer can be used to create a bootable USB drive.

After a friend upgraded their 2011 Mac Mini from macOS 10.12 Sierra to macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Apple Mail had black window (so could not read email). Work around is display color calibration.

Personally upgraded a 2011 MacBook Air to macOS 10.12 Sierra (avoid display work around). Also upgraded a 2014 iMac from OS X 10.10 Yosemite to macOS 10.13 High Sierra. Before upgrading OS, did use Disk Utility to create a disk image of OS X 10.10 partition. Thankful for backup not being needed.

Graham and Ks4J:

Thank you. I will have to uninstall L7 from the Yosemite one and install in a more modern one.

Is there a thread explaining how to uninstall?

How about the right way to install in the new OS?

As long as your computer is compatible, macOS is a free update. You "purchase" it (free) via the Mac App store.

FWIW - I always download the update and create a bootable flash install drive so that I can install it on all of my Macs.

Wikipedia => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X_El_Capitan includes system requirements for OS X 10.11 El Capitan. Many Mac models running OS X 10.10 Yosemite with 2+ GB Ram can freely be upgraded. Apple Support for OS X 10.11 => https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206886

Thanks for the info JT.

I've had this problem before. I usually do not update computers, because it turns out that most apps are not compatible with the new os.

I do have a computer with a newer OS, I just put off installing because of the long time to download and index, but I will have to do it now.

Thank you Dave.

Exactly what I was needing.

When I download the dmg from the thank you for your order package page for the new computer, will it have the latest version?

I have some different packages (e.g. Bilingual, and some of different traditions), I just have to download the most encompassing one (largest), and eventually the other packages will download correct?

Thanks ahead of time for the guidance.

Thank you Ks4J:

I usually do not upgrade computers if I have important apps and data in it. I just have to uninstall in old OS, and install in newer one, which takes some time. Smile

I was putting off the job, and I was just running out of disk space. Now I will uninstall (which will free space for work with other apps), and install in newer OS  (hopefully giving better performance)... a win win for me, only that it will take some time for download and indexing.

It is still a good idea to let the indexing happen while you sleep. It doesn't seem to take as long.

All your resources will download (and index) when you install Logos.

Hi Dave:

I followed the instructions for uninstalling L7 from Yosemite OS.

Most of the files that they refer to in the wiki, I was not able to find. I did delete the app in applications.

Then it says that L7 uses the Logos 4 file to store resources. Is that the case with Yosemite?

How can I delete the folder that contains the resources in Yosemite, as I suspect that it takes up a lot of disk space, and since I am uninstalling L7 won't be using?

Thanks for any guidance.

Logos4 folder (in your User Library) is used by Logos 4, 5, 6, & 7 on all Mac Operating Systems. Hindsight 20/20: Application Support folder name should have been version agnostic.

Resources folder also contains compiled personal books (suggest copying them before moving Logos4 folder to the trash and emptying trash).

Hi Ks4J:

Ok, got to the hidden library by using the "go to ..." box and typing:  ~/Library

I will copy to an external hard drive.

Do you know how to identify the PBs so that I can transfer? And where in the new install should they go?

Thanks for any guidance.

Compiled PBs are named *.lbspbb that can be copied to an external drive. In new installation, connect external drive followed by using scan command (to copy & index PBs). Logos wiki => Copy Logos Resources to Mac OS X (Supported – saves resource downloading) has scan command examples.

Hamilton - Remember, however, that the .docx files (and with them the ability to edit/change a personal book) are NOT stored within Logos file directories. Make sure to save those too!
