7.17 Beta 3 Regression - Favorites
Using 7.17.0.003 on macOS 10.13.6 has repeatable regression of Favorites now always opening with ALL sections expanded. Expected behavior is like Guides that "remembers" which section(s) were collapsed/expanded when Favorites was closed.
Note: restarting Logos 7 Beta 3 had no effect on Favorites regression. Open to blank layout. Open Favorites from shortcut has ALL sections expanded. Collapsed many sections. Closed Favorites. Opened Favorites from Tools Menu, which showed ALL sections expanded = annoying regression.

This is also an issue with the Mac software of:
Logos Bible Software 7.17
7.17.0.0020
I hope that since it has been almost a month since it has been reported, that a fix will be made available soon. Thank you.

This has not been fixed with the release of 7.18 Beta 1

Could anyone from FL chime in and advise on why this is taking to so long to solution? Or when a fix might be offered?
Thanks!!

Any developments towards a solution for Logos not "remembering" what was previously collapsed or expanded (across Favorites, Guides, etc.)?

Still waiting for Logos to fix this problem with Favorites, with some degree of frustration and disappointment that it is taking so long. Can someone with authority from Logos tell us why this is the case and/or what is being done to rectify the problem?

I concur with Mark. Logos, please assist with this. Thanks in advance.

This bug is on our list of things to investigate in the next two weeks. This is not a guarantee that it will be fixed, but we are looking at it.

Thank you for the update, Andrew.

Thanks Andrew for looking into this, it makes the favourites folders unusable where you have a significant number of folders and items in each folder!

I hope it can be fixed. I use my favorites as a topical index. hundreds of categories and sub categories. I keep closing them so I can get to from the beginning to the end or middle quickly. Logos keeps opening them back up takes about 1 Minute instead of 5 seconds.
very frustrating
it is May 17

Logos 8.5 Beta 5 on macOS 10.14.5 now always opens Favorites with all sections collapsed, which is an improvement. Dreaming of expected behavior return that "remembers" which section(s) were collapsed/expanded when Favorites was closed.

KS4J,
On my machine it does remember which ones I had collapsed and which ones were not. Can you confirm that this is not the case for you?

Confirmed all collapsed using Logos 8.5.0.0019 on macOS 10.14.5 (so is not remembering two expanded folders when Favorites was closed)
FYI: Dreaming of macOS dark mode support in Logos & Verbum

Keep Smiling,
I'm still not able to reproduce this. Can you recheck with 8.5 RC 2, and if you can, could you record a screencast of what you are doing? I want to see if you are doing something different.
Blessings,
Philana

My favorites is opening with some files expanded and some files not. The same files are expanded (and the others not) each time I open, regardless of how I close favorites.
I'm using the latest version of Logos 9 (I just had it check for updates) on a Windows computer.
It has always been this way for me; I just began wondering if there were a way to change this, and found this thread.
Is there anything I should try?

Maria,
I'm not able to reproduce this on Windows either. Could you video record your screen using something like https://www.techsmith.com/jing-tool.html and upload the video here so I can see if you are doing anything different than I am?

Does that link work for you, Philana?
I've never used a video recorder like that before...
Thank you!

Another note: It's exactly the same folders that are expanded every single time.

Random thought - is favorites inside a layout? that would cause the behavior you describe.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

MJ, you are brilliant.
I had favorites as a shortcut. When I deleted that shortcut and opened favorites another way, it worked perfectly.
Now, it works as it should, opening in the same condition I closed it.
So, I re-saved it as a shortcut, with everything collapsed.
That solves my problem!
Thank you!

Thank you, Philana, the problem is solved.
It was user error. [:D]
Thank you for teaching me how to make videos of what I do...I'm sure that will come in handy in the future!

Sure thing, and thanks to MJ for noticing that it was a layout causing the problem.
