This article on the wiki page will tell you how to do that.  One note of caution, hiding book (deleting them from your library) can be done one or many books at a time.  Restoring books to your library is one-at-a-time.  This can be very time consuming

The "why" here may be more important than the "how." What is your goal?

I wound up getting a ton of monograph books that I'll never use (back when I was young and had aspirations of learning latin etc...) and want to clean up my library by deleting them.

You likely can't "delete" them per se. Your best bet is to "hide" them.

NOTE: I am using the technical definition of "delete from library." If you "hide" them, you won't see them and you can clean your install so that they don't take up space on your computer. They would nevertheless remain in your library.

For this purpose, I have found not downloading them (remove from this device) to be helpful. They are visible if I go looking for them when I'm desperate for any hint, but generally out of sight, out of mind.

I will chip in with my old saw.

Be cautious of deleting volumes that you might not read but that others might reference.

If you go to the (physical library) you might pull a book that says 'Andy Capp's take on this matter is interesting'.

You might never have considered purchasing a book by Andy Capp but now you want to find the reference, not because you agree with it, but because it helps to understand how others think.

Off you go to your shelf and find that the librarian (in this case you) has shredded the book.

How do you feel?
