Anyone read this and have a short review?
Authors theological leanings? view on Revelation?
One of my favorite reads on the book of revelation. I couldnt put it down. He writes mainly for, “those looking for an alternative to readings of Revelation that promote fear about being left behind at the rapture or narcissistic preparation for the end times.” His take that revelation is largely about critque of empire is especially relevant in our day. If you’ve been brought up as a “dispensationalist,” which I assume most folks in America have, this book will offer a worthy alternative.
pk47, if you liked this perspective, you should check out Unveiling Empire by Anthony Gwyther and Wes Howard-Brook. Great read.
Will do. Thanks Nick.
I'm not a dispensationalist, but if he frames that view as promoting fear or narcissism then it sounds like he lacks the ability to charitably interact with or frame those he disagrees with in the strongest possible terms... But I guess that much is already hinted at in the title of the book (which seems to already frame his reading as the responsible one)?
