Logos 8 is here! It’s available in EnglishSpanishGermanPortugueseKorean, and Chinese on desktop (Windows and macOS), mobile (iOS and Android), and the web at https://app.logos.com/.

Not all features are available on every platform, but we’ve worked hard to deliver a consistent experience regardless of the platform you’re on, making it easier for you to continue your study no matter where you are and which device you have with you.

The new version of the Logos web app is available to all Logos 8 owners as well as Faithlife Connect subscribers. It’ll be freely available for everyone in early 2019. In the meantime, you can continue to enjoy Logos on the web at https://7.app.logos.com/.

Here’s what’s new:

  1. User Interface: A new user interface brings a consistent experience between the web app and the desktop app.
  2. Homepage: A new cross-platform, responsive Homepage features a customizable Dashboard with new Course, Layout, and Workflow cards and a redesigned Explore section (which will be customizable in the near future).
  3. Library: A new faceted browsing sidebar allows you to easily find books by Subject, Type, Author, Series, Publisher, and Language. Expose it by clicking the ☰ icon.
  4. Docs: The Documents menu is now called Docs and is dockable as a panel. It adds a new faceted browsing sidebar, allowing you to easily find documents by Author, Group, Type, and Modified Date. Expose it by clicking the ☰ icon.
  5. Guides: A refreshed Guides menu adds a find box and makes it easier to quickly find what you’re looking for. It also adds our flagship new feature:
  6. Workflows: The flagship feature of Logos 8 is available in a basic form on the web, which allows you to access your workflows when you’re away from your computer. Since they’re a new kind of guide, you’ll find them in the Guides menu. We’ll be enriching the functionality of Workflows on the web in the coming months.
Logos 8 includes the following workflow templates: (1) Basic Bible Study, (2) Biblical Topic Study, (3) Biblical Person Study, (4) Biblical Place Study, (5) Devotional, (6) Expository Sermon Preparation, (7) Inductive Bible Study, (8) Lectio Divina, (9) Passage Exegesis, (10) Praying Scripture, and (11) Word Study (Original Language).
  7. Canvas: Visualize your study with the new Canvas tool. Work a text of Scripture to understand what it means, or visualize a difficult concept and use it as a teaching tool. Learn from others by browsing the public directory of published canvases and grabbing a personal copy. You’ll find Canvas in the Tools menu, but you can also create a new canvas for the Docs menu.
  8. Bible Browser: An updated Bible Browser adds the following new datasets, enabling even richer searching of your Bible: (1) Angels, Demons, and Deities, (2) Commands in the Bible, (3) Messianic Prophecies, (4) Prophets, Priests, Regents, and Judges, (5) Questions in the Bible, (6) Source Criticism, (7) Systematic Theology topics, and (8) Theophanies of the Bible.

After you’ve had the chance to try out the new app, let us know what you think.

You and your team must be pretty pumped about this. Great job on the launch!

Phil,

The web version, https://app.logos.com/, is hard to find from the www.logos.com page.  It should have a link, if even next to the forums link at the bottom of the page.  I found it by coming to this forum and reading your post.  Otherwise, it doesn't get much publicity.

I would second this. I have the app as a shortcut now but I didn't find it that easy to access first off.

I have not used the web app in quite some time. Just really didn't have much need for it.

I opened the new version 8 app today. All I can say is, "Wow." I can see myself using this much more in the future. Good job!

Hi Phil, are all the tools from the Logos 8 desktop app available/accessible in the web app? If no, what tools are currently not available and is there plans to change that? A great number of users are moving to tablets and mobile devices for when they're on the go or preaching/teaching.

No. Compare the above list with this list.

Yes. We'll continue to systematically add functionality missing from the desktop. There are still multiple years of catch-up work to do.

I love this direction as I use a few different operating systems (ubuntu 18.10, android-x86, primeOS) that don't run c++ or read .dmg.  However, I have noticed a significant problem with syncing in Sermon Documents.  When I type up a sermon with one operating system inside the app.logos.com, then go to continue with the full application Logos 8 on Windows 10, I have lost quite a bit of work at times due to syncing conflicts where the program server apparently read the older version of the document as the newer version to sync back to.
