Anchor Yale Bible hyperlinks to Bible text
All of the scripture references in the commentary of the Anchor Yale Bible point to the footnotes for the text rather than the Bible text itself. Whenever I hover over a text reference to see what the referenced passage says, I see only the footnote commentary on the verse and not the verse itself.
Is this by design? If so, I don't find it useful. Is there a workaround for this?

I guess you'd need to be more specific, or an example? I checked about 20 from recent volumes and older ones ... they all popped to my preferred Bible. Just curious, AYBD was the same.

I don't see this
Check your Prioritization settings in the Library. Do you have your Bible higher than the commentary?

I moved the ESV to higher spot in the prioritization, and now I see the ESV when I hover.
But this just begs the question: Is the AY Bible a Bible or a commentary? I thought it was both, so I put it at the top of the prioritization precisely so I could see its rendition of the text when I hover on references. I guess that won't work.

It is a commentary - but prioritization is based on data types, and Bibles and Commentaries are both indexed on verses.
Best practice is having Bibles prioritized higher than commentaries.

From what you reported earlier it did work - but it prevented you seeing Bibles when hovering over Biblical references.
I'm confused as to what behaviour you were trying to cause - are you able to clarify please?

When I hover over a Bible reference in the commentary portion of the AYBC, I want to see the AYBC translation of the verse. That does not appear to be possible. I'm guessing the Bible translation portion of the data is not tagged verse by verse, so the footnote is the first data point that is tagged with the verse reference.
The next best approach would probably be to open two copies of the AYBC so I can see the translation text in one window and read the commentary in the other. But cross-references to Bible books other than the one I'm studying will still not be convenient if I want to see the AYBC translation. I'd need to open yet other instances of the AYBC to see them too.

I think that you have a point Geoff. When N T Wright did his 'New Testament for Everyone' series the 'translations' preceding each pericope were gathered together and published as a 'New Translation'.
I guess somebody would need to do this for the Anchor Yale Commentaries if what you want is to be provided.

Thank you. I have been making this point in a broader context for years and rarely get much support. Eventually we will manage to get FL to see the light!
