Hi Reuben:

What are the best theological journals in your opinion?

As a newie interested in systematic theology I found some real good helpful works:

https://www.logos.com/product/27749/survivors-guide-to-theology

https://www.logos.com/product/4897/the-ways-of-our-god-an-approach-to-biblical-theology

For a look at topics related to the recipients of the Oracles of God and who had as pillars of their approach to religion: worship, education and good deeds:

https://www.logos.com/product/8537/the-jewish-encyclopedia

Then old ISBE, and AYD are really good for some specific info.

Mobile ed courses are real good too.  Comparative views, perspectives on topics series are illuminating, etc.

Kind regards.

Definitely depends on why you have Logos.

1. MM  - Dated, but I just like it.

2. Strack & B - So interesting, across the coverage.

I treat Logos as my one stop shop for my library of books.  It's super convenient to have all my highlights on one platform whenever possible.  The following resources have been very helpful:

  • NIVAC - as a layperson, this series is in the perfect format.  I love how it breaks down each passage with original context, bridging the meaning, and contemporary significance
  • NAC - great commentary that isn't too long or too academic
  • The Bible Knowledge Commentary
  • Accidental Pharisees
  • Grasping God's Word
  • Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes
  • The Canon of Scripture
  • The Four Hundred Silent Years
  • The Case for Christ
  • I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist
  • Our Legacy:  The History of the Christian Doctrine
  • The Unquenchable Flame: Discovering the Heart of the Reformation
  • Christian History Magazine
  • Themelios
  • NICOT/NICNT
  • Pillar
  • TOTC/TNTC
  • AYBD

Apparently Logos offers 3 choices!  In my case, The Greek Vocabulary one. The day the Holy Ghost language died.

New Interpreter’s Bible (12 vols.)

Fortress Commentary on the Bible (2 vols.)

Westminster Bible Companion Series (33 vols.)  /  Westminster Bible Companion: First and Second Corinthians

I have chosen to share 3 of my favourite series I am not sure why after all these years FL has yet to bundle the complete set is a mystery (while i would not want to see it only available as a 34 volume set it would be nice to be able to purchase it complete.

In addition to many of the resources others have suggested, I have really profited from these that haven't been mentioned:

The Fortress set is great! I used it all the time in seminary.

I am very happy people are discovering inexpensive ways to pick up FCB in packages. It is not always as in-depth as one might like (no 1-2 volume set is in my experience). But it packs in a lot in to make it a most valuable tool, in my mind anyhow.

I don't think I can really say which book I like over another but what I appreciate and use the most is the original language tools that have helped me greatly improve my skills. I especially appreciate the app which allows me to do the same on my phone. This is a huge improvement over having to haul physical books with me like I used to do.
