It was included in some of the L8 gold packages, etc. It was likely completed months back. A thank you to Isaiah and Andrew.

I only post these for folks that operate at the margins. Yes, most don't need it, nor will ever use it.

Why is it unusual or useful?

1. Latin. Quite a bit of the later fathers are in latin. If memory serves, all the African are latin. So, if you want to see comparative usage, and hopefully the word is in the Clementine (only lemmas from the Vulgate).

2. Cross-testament usage. The Vulgate was one of the earlier translations that crossed both the hebrew and greek, so you can look at what their (largely Jerome's) semantic perceptions were. Modern folks just assume a cross-language equivalence, even though that's almost impossible.

3. Analytical lexicons, in general, are great for when you have an OL word, it's not tagged, and you are too lazy to track it down. A right-click, and if lucky, a gorgeous door into your Logos system. I always prioritize analytics below my regular lexicons. They catch fly balls.

EDIT:

If you're remembering a free dictionary of latins forms (thread below), it's now a pretty penny:

Me too. It's a great resource. I'm also glad that I have the original free William Whitaker's Words program that that data came from. I believe it's still available online. Thanks Denise and Bruce; you've reminded me to pray for the repose of the late Mr. Whitaker's soul.

Wow thanks Mr Ben! Any chance this can get added into Standard Gold or Reformed Gold base packages? I figure it couldn't hurt to try :)

Ones jaw drops. On several levels. But the story ended well.

I'm still looking to the VAL (that's its new well-known abbreviation). I'll probably be disappointed, but I think the hebrew/greek OT/NT through one forced meaning (latin) will be interesting. I already tried out 'hypocrite'  ... the latin seems to bend it a bit.

I agree that it should be interesting to see this. Let's be positive, perhaps you won't be disappointed.

Well, just one lady's opinion.

I think they missed their market, plus me. It has OT hebrew matches (incl Sirach), and NT greek matches. Just not OT greek matches ... the main question That would have made the volume great. But beggars (me) can't be choosers.

Well, if one has time, workarounds are available.

This shows that παρερχομαι is used in LXX but is missing from the Greek alignments in VAL.

True ... Logos is the work-around king.

But presenting the OT greek is not a major issue for them ... they've had alignment versions for years. And I'd assume the 'Vulgate' is largely of Catholic interest,  to include the LXX parallels, as well as the full Deuterocanon. A good Verbum fit.  Just seems a missed opportunity. When they promoted the VG-interlinear, the interest was in the 3-combo comparison.
