Logos Free for (Homeschool) Families

That seems reasonable to me and I am more than happy to pass the details on to some non-logosians. A quick question: is there any way you could provide a basic list of the resources contained in the bundle? It would be good to be able to highlight some of the key resources (especially commentaries, etc.) when talking with friends.

Thank you very much. A note to fellow users: although it has a good number of resources useful for all, it is also designed for American families. For instance, it includes the American Declaration of Independence and other resources on America.

We built a homeschool starter library and made it available for free for attendees of the homeschool conference Teach Them Diligently in Columbus, OH this weekend. It got leaked on Facebook and went viral, so we decided to open it up to everyone.

It was supposed to end at midnight tonight, but we'll probably leave it open through the weekend. Feel free to grab a copy for yourself and, if relevant, your spouse and your children. But if you do, please do us the favor of letting at least five other people know about it who aren't Logos users and could benefit from it.

First of all, thank you Faithlife for this move toward family orientation.  I think it's a good way to grow sales down the road as more people learn how to use the software and experience the benefits it has for their Bible study and spiritual growth.

I plan to share this offer with others, but would like to install it and look it over so I'm better informed before talking to them about it.  With the window for this offer being so small, I'll need to look it over today.  Since I'm already on the latest release of Logos and have purchased several bronze, silver, and gold packages in the past, how can I go about installing this so I see it as a separate install and library?

I placed my order but haven't run the Logos setup program.  However, when I start my current install of Logos, I have a message that an update of 270.5 MB is available.  I'm wondering if that is for the Logos 8 Basic offer and if it will be merged with my current library making it impossible to review the Basic package on it's own.  [*-)]

Can anyone point me to documentation regarding how to ensure a separate installation?

This is really generous of you.  I do not often share on Facebook, but this is the best excuse I can think of.  I really hope this grabs a few people from my church.  We have a bit of a reputation for being afraid of technology...

Create a new user account on your computer... and a new user account on FL to "purchase" the package.

All installations are for "one user." All notes will be intermingled. You would need to create a new account and purchases for each user if you wanted to keep things separate. 

If they have multiple computers, would two or more family members be able to be using the software at the same time?

The account is for "one user," but if you are using the same account, there is nothing stopping you from using the same account on two computers concurrently... but again, shared notes, etc.

Since I made my purchase of the Basic package from my regular login, I'm guessing the 270.5 MB update that showed up in Logos right after the purchase is indeed for the Basic package and will be merged into my existing library.  However, it also sounds like I can set up another account and make the purchase from there, in order to have a nice long time period to have a Logos install with nothing in the library except what came with that package.

Here's what I gather is in the package, more or less, from after the "update" I downloaded immediately after getting the package. 

3 different things were included on my end, but removed 2 because I already have them:

1.  Logos 8 Basic

2.  90 Day Trial for Faithlife TV

3.  Homeschool library 

I only kept number 3 👍😁👌

It is something I would recommend to Logos.  I believe there is a market with homeschoolers.  If Logos agrees, I am sure this will be made available again at certain times in the year.  I had mentioned that there are 2600 children involved in the National Bible Bee.  These are children seriously studying God's Word.  They study hebrew, greek, memorize verses, do cross referencing, study books of the Bible, learn to use Strong's concordance etc.  If Logos tapped into this group who are mainly homeschoolers, there would be the potential of lifelong logos customers.  I posted the notice to the Bible bee forum, but only on June 2 in the afternoon which was not enough time for the majority to take advantage of the offer.

Still, the offer is a positive sign that Logos will hopefully see the potential for new customers by marketing to those that homeschool.  My son used a mobile ed course to learn Greek this year.  There is so much potential.  But I also think Logos could develop some kind of check to be sure that such offers go to homeschoolers only and not to those just looking to take advantage of free offers.  This offer was clearly intended originally for a specific target, not for everyone.

Any Chance this can get extended? I was out of the office until today. I Home School and would love to pass this to our Home School group.

It would be nice if FL extended the offer though I think the chances are slim as they already extended the original offer and widened the target audience.

I wish I'd seen this earlier! I know a few homeschooling families who would've been interested. That said, I'm glad that FL built this package and I hope that more homeschooler-targeted material will appear. (Also, Verbum version, please!)
