Another STRONG plea for works by Robert Alter. They are CRYING out to be in Logos. PLEASE VOTE!

I'm going to try a different tack: posting a separate UserVoice suggestion for each of his books, since the "all his works" one which has 266 votes already seems like it's being ignored. I guess Faithlife can't act on something that isn't specific enough.
So please go vote for any and all of these that you'd be hypothetically interested in (even if, in the end, you couldn't buy ALL of them).
- The Book of Psalms: A Translation with Commentary
- The Wisdom Books: Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes: A Translation with Commentary
- The Five Books of Moses: A Translation with Commentary
- Ancient Israel: The Former Prophets: Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings: A Translation with Commentary
- Strong As Death Is Love: The Song of Songs, Ruth, Esther, Jonah, and Daniel, A Translation with Commentary
- The David Story: A Translation with Commentary of 1 and 2 Samuel
- Genesis: Translation and Commentary
- The Art of Bible Translation
- Pen of Iron: American Prose and the King James Bible
These others were already on UserVoice, but need more votes:
- The Art of Biblical Poetry
- The Art of Biblical Narrative
- The Hebrew Bible: A Translation with Commentary (the person who entered this one got the author's first name wrong, but the ISBN and Amazon link point to the correct book, and I added a comment mentioning the correct author name)

Yes. I don't understand the obstacle or reluctance here. They're clearly in demand, and have been for years. I'll go vote.

I'm guessing it's because they have no relationship with Alter's main publisher, W. W. Norton & Company, and it's hard to get a new publisher on board. Norton is primarily a secular publisher that might not be eager to deal with a bible software company, even though they do publish some Christian books. It took Faithlife/Logos the longest time to get a deal with HarperOne to publish C.S. Lewis's books, even with much begging from users.

Thanks for the persistent interest, I agree that these would be great additions to logos. We will let you know when we have an update.

I sat down after work to read portions of Alter's Isaiah and pondered just how easy it would be to compare it with other versions with Faithlife.
Isaiah 44:3-4 Robert Alter 2019
For I will pour water on thirsty land, // and rivulets upon the dry ground,
I will pour My spirit on your seed // And My blessing on your offering
And they shall sprout among the grass // like willows by brooks of water.

Pre-pub this! Logos has Everett Fox's work. Please do Robert Alter's work.

Y’all won’t believe this—but I found his entire OT work in PDF online...free😳! Just sayin’.
PM me if you want more info.

They only have the first volume of Everett Fox’s translation. The second volume would be another fine addition.

This is planned:

Folks, the place to vote for this has moved, since Faithlife has now switched to using a new feedback system hosted by FeedBear. If you voted recently on UserVoice, please go over to this new location and vote. There is no vote limit like there used to be on UserVoice.

In print I've got his three "Art of" books, as well as the illustrious 3 Volume Hebrew Bible. But I wouldn't mind buying it all over again on logos just get it in my interlinear setup.

What does it mean now that this is listed as "planned"? It's not on prepub anywhere that I can find.

I've taken it to mean that they have at least contacted the holder of rights to begin negotiation - just because it works for me not because I know it is accurate. [^o)]

Indeed! Especially the Hebrew translation

Back when I worked for that other company, I can tell you that the publisher would not even negotiate with us to provide Altar's content for the platform. And we regularly made contact but the answer was always the same. I would love to see these titles for Logos myself, but I would guess the publisher is the main roadblock.
