I recently was reading about Ezekiel 26:7 about a prophecy against Tyre, which reminded me of something I had read about the same passage in another book about the fulfillment of that prophecy being drawn out over many years and not immediately fulfilled by Nebuchadnezzar.

This is exactly why I prefer a digital library... to be able to easily search for things like this. After all, I had probably highlighted it, and I knew it was in my library somewhere.

I began with a Passage guide based on Ezekiel 26:7. There was nothing under "Your Content."

Next I did a search for <Ezekiel 26:7>. I was able to find the book, mostly because I knew what I was looking for. It was Kaiser and Silva's "Introduction to Biblical Interpretation." As an aside, it would be nice if I could search the subset of my library that I've actually read...

That took me to the place where I was thinking. However, I saw that I had already highlighted it. Why didn't it find where I highlighted "Ezekiel 26:7-14" under "Your Content"? I also tried opening up my Notes/Highlights and searching for "Ezekiel 26:7-14" and got no results. I'm sure the answer is that it only searches the Note text, not the Highlighted text. But wouldn't it be much better if it searched the highlighted text also?

I tend to tag resources I have read with a tag “HaveRead”. I could then run a search just on those resources with that tag if I wished.

I don’t think your screenshot shows you had already highlighted it. It looks as though the search window is still open and it is highlighting search results. If you close the search window does the highlight in the text disappear?

Thanks again Graham for your quick response!

The highlight I am referring to is the double bar and star on the left hand side.

Sorry - I missed that.

I believe the Your Content section would be populated if a highlight was made against the passage - not if the passage is mentioned in a portion of highlighted text.

To find that, you can do a Highlight Search - such as <ezek 26:7> WITHIN {Highlight *}

Sort Library by Reading Status in Details View (a column with green/grey circular sectors). Click the heading Finished, and select all the resources (or whatever you want). Right click and select "Search these resources". You can then search for <Ezek 26:7-14>.

You can judge how accurate the "Finished" status is; and if nothing else, it may be a good start to tagging resources you have read.
