Lewis and John:
After the resource update are you allowing the indexer to finish before letting the computer sleep or is it sleeping at all during the times you see L4 try to index the new resources?
John: Could you post your logs as Lewis has? Just follow the instructions I link to in my signature.

Tommy,
Computer had completed indexing and blue icon had closed before I ever restarted program.

Same thing is happening with me each time I launch L4 Mac I get preparing library then indexing 1hr. 40 minutes it indexing seems to run for a while counting down the minutes then the icon goes as if its finished I let the program run for 4 hrs in case it was just a glitch with the icon but next start up same thing happens.

A23 is also indexing with each start. In addition, it also is wanting to download - though smaller than the initial 2GB. The second 600+ MB, and the third 300+ MB.
(download difficulty in logs appears to be with resources BBLSTRY06 and 08. Thanks for your help.

Indexing issues here as well. L4 indexes when the computer restarts, when I log in, when I open L4. It seems to usually give a time between 20-30 minutes remaining....get's down to 5 or 8 or so minutes then the L4 logo disappears. Lappy does not to time out/log out/sleep/etc. it just doesn't seem to fully complete the index. I'm not sure if my issues have to do with the the new alpha or with the resource update. I believe everything was working fine with the new alpha and this issue seems to have appeared with the resource update.
I'll read (again) and reread the how to post logs link but I'm a newbie and get lost about half way through the instructions. As a visual learner, is there a step by step visual guide (other then watching and repeating the video at every step) that might help me make sense of what I need to do in order to post logs? I wanna help up but I feel desperately lost here.

Follow up post for more info('til I can figure out the log thing) - repeated cycle of indexing opens at 25 minutes moves to 41 minutes and goes down from there until the indexing stops when it reaches 4 minutes. This is a consistent pattern with my indexing issues. I don't think it has actually finished the indexing process.

We've noticed this here too. And it is related not to A23, but to the resource updates. I think the problem is merging existing and new indexes. Index merging was disabled for a time, but added back recently around A22 for both Windows and Mac.
I was able to stem the tide of indexing by running "Rebuild Bible Index" from the command bar and letting it finish.
I'll take a look at some of the logs you guys have posted and get with some of the Windows devs to see if we can figure out what's happening. It seems that this would affect Windows users as well.

Performed the "Rebuild Bible Index" command and the continuous reindexing is now a thing of the past. Appreciate your help, Tom!

Yes, thanks Tom! I did a Bible Index Rebuild and that seems to have done the trick.

Tom,
Having ran "rebuild bible index" and "merge index" L4Mac A23 is still indexing every time opened. The index pattern consists of 1hr 39 min to 4min then quits. (total time elapsed indexing 10-15 min.) Doesn't seem to complete index cycle for the rebuild/merge commands either. Do you think a "rebuild index" will solve this?

Yes, Lauren. After looking at your logs, it looks like your main (i.e. non-Bible) index is having the same problems that others saw with the Bible index. "Rebuild Index" should solve this.

Attempting the "rebuild index" as "rebuild bible index" failed. Will post if successful.

What do you mean from the "command bar" ? I typed it in and hit enter, but nothing happened. There's nothing under the "tools" tab.

Don't press enter - select it from the drop down menu. - then if nothing happens restart Logos

That is a new one on me. :-)

I have just purchased and installed the logos 4 software scholars edition. When searching for infallibility I get a message which says I will probably get more hits when the system finishes indexing. I have no blue symbol to click on to check the progress of indexing nor do I understand how to find the command "rebuild index". I am hoping for some prompt help. Thanks. Hamilton Moore

Hamilton - first, welcome to the forums! You don't need to "find" the command "rebuild index" - you just type it into the command bar and press enter. Also, have you restarted Logos to see if it automatically indexes?
