What are Data Sets?

Collections of data...

Basically a catch all term for things that are not traditional books, but allow things to be tied together. So, there are datasets that recognize various people, places, and things in the bible no matter what word is used in the text. Eg. Herod Antipas can be called "Herod", "King", "Tetrarch", or "him" in the biblical text, and a data set is able to pull all those references together as being about the same guy.

The Gospel is not ... a "new law," on the contrary, ... a "new life." - William Julius Mann

Is there a way to see a list of all data sets in one's library?

Technically there aren't any data sets in your library... Data sets aren't books or journals that you open from your user library.

I don't know of a great way to determine which data sets you own. My best answer at this point is to access the full feature set product page and look for things you own. NOTE: You will not show "owned" data sets which you subscribe to via a FB subscription.

In you library search box enter:

type:manual documentation

This gives me a list of documentation for 57 datasets that are licensed to me. That is a good starting point for you but I can't say it's comprehensive.

Also if you click on About Logos Software from the (hamburgyer) help menu on the main window of the software on the left hand side bottom there is scrollable section with technical information about the modules you have loaded including data sets as I understand it. But looking at the link JT suggested would be more user friendly for identifying any data sets that might not have documentation available in your library.

Thanks.  That did it. I have 58.  I wish FL would make it easier to find all data sets.  I don't know if I will remember what to enter into the search box in the future.

Anyone want to share how they use these resource files in a practical way?

Remember not all dataset documentation is type:manual -- some is embedded in interactives, some is embedded in resources of other types ...

How do I use them? I look up meanings and definitions whenever I want to know what I am actually looking at -- or, together with glossaries, whenever I want to build a search that I don't already know at least one occurrence for.
