Phil or FL / WS acquisition team,

Since these WS resources will be added incrementally over the rest of 2020 as they are available, is there any way you guys can add a "Wordsearch" tag to these resources for us automatically so that we can easily track what resources have been added as a result of the WS acquisition? I realize we can add a tag to the big batch from today pretty easily, but it's the individual resources that straggle in over the next couple of months that could easily get missed, especially if they are added to our library at the same time as other, non-Wordsearch resources.

Thoughts? Possibility?

I think this is a great idea.  I know I was already a logos user and a WordSearch user.  I had only 788 book in WordSearch and today roughly 446 came over.  I do have a few duplicates but not many so it would be great to make sure all books get migrated over

That's precisely why I want to be sure resources are tagged accordingly...I have over 1000 resources in WS, but only about 250 came over for me today. I suspect some is due to overlap, but it would be nice to be able to easily track what's been sent over as part of WS each time new resources are added so I can also more easily track what hasnt came over.

I tagged all of my WS resources that came across today (about 700) with "WORDsearch" and then started a collection with the rule Mytag:"WORDsearch."

I like the idea that maybe Logos could "pre" tag them, however, I am going to copy my WS library bibliography into an excel spreadsheet, just to keep track as they migrate.

Your suggestion makes sense, but we don't currently have any plans to create per-user tags on the Wordsearch resources (that already exist in Logos format, and are being converted to Logos format) to indicate the ones that are new-to-you (from this acquisition).

The best approach is probably to filter the Library down to "{AddedDate 1d}" and tag anything that's not the result of a logos.com purchase.

Picking up on this, am I right in thinking that where the base version of a book used by FaithLife and WordSearch is considered "different" there may be a few sources where we end up with a second resource rather than a second license?

Follow up is do you anticipate this being resolved over time as you build more knowledge of the resources that have been acquired and can better determine true duplicates?

Yes. This might occur, for example, when the copies in Wordsearch and Logos are different editions or from different publishers. (Rights to books can change over time, and Wordsearch and Logos might have licensed the titles differently.)

It's highly likely that there are some errors in our resource alignment data that will need to be corrected. When that happens, licenses will be removed from users' imported Wordsearch licenses and replaced with the "correct" license; the new resource will then download into Logos.

The initial situation I described above is unlikely to change though, because it's a contractual issue.

    Thanks Bradley

I really don't envy you but do appreciate all the hard work here.

What about generic tags that tag all the resources to indicate that they could have come from Wordsearch, i.e., a tag or whatever for all of the FL resources present and near-future that are aligned to Wordsearch resources being converted?

We don't want to tag that the ESV or the WBC series could have come from Wordsearch; for the majority of Logos users, that is not relevant information. Additionally, it would just be confusing for former Wordsearch customers who bought those volumes in Logos and didn't have them migrated from Wordsearch.

So then why not tag by person, as first suggested. I realize it might be a little bit of work for FL, but don't customers deserve this level of consideration and convenience?

I mean, think about it from our perspective (novel idea, huh?!). It's a lot of work trying to reconcile resources in two libraries. Shouldn't we expect that there would be a convenient way to determine which of our resources have came over already and which are still yet pending, and even still, which wont come over.

I don't really think we should even be having this conversation - FL should have already thought this through and provide some sort of mechanism to give customers confidence in this process. It's frustrating that out of the blue there's this notice of transition and an underlying message that, 'Hey, a ton of resources are coming over, but it's going to be completely up to you to ensure you get all those resources, not us. We aren't willing to take any extra effort to assure you that we've accounted for all of your resources in this transition.' Respectfully, that's not very good customer service, and it certainly doesn't demonstrate a desire to start off on the right foot with WS users migrating to FL.

Also, the filtering by date added is a poor solution to this problem, even with the initial dump of resources. After I added all of yesterday's adds to a collection, I noticed that even some of those resources were just updates or were products I had purchased that day from FL. It was a hassle trying to look through 260+ resources to determine what's what.

This is frustrating and I really wish you guys had put more time and consideration into this, or at least took pause when your realized you hadn't and then consideration a better path forward.

That said, than you for the transition. Glad to have all the B&H resources in Logos now.

    Myke,

I hear your frustrations. Of course you want to know what's new to you, what's still coming, etc.

Before we announced the deal, we discussed how we could provide customers with a personalised list of the resources coming to them. Unfortunately, with any deal like this, there are a huge number of moving pieces behind the scenes, and that wasn't something we were able to have ready to go on Day 1.

It's only been 24 hours since the deal was announced [:)]; We hope to have some better solutions in place soon.

I noticed that even some of those resources were just updates

Filtering by "{AddedDate 1d}" should not show updates to existing resources. (It will show new FL purchases, which you'd need to manually filter out, so it's not a perfect solution.)
