Graham Criddle:

How did that work? Didn't following a hyper-link change the current verse (and hence the highlight)?

Graham, in WS the active verse was always highlighted in yellow and as you moved verses the highlight moved as well. That is what Jimmy is referring to.

Unfortunately, the only way to do it is to edit the title in the library. I’ve accomplished this over many years (nearly 2000 bible commentaries now) but I’m sure the initial change was several hundred like you. It really doesn’t take as long as one might think as long as you remain focused on the goal. The end result is an organized library and the commentary series shown on the tabs and within the passage guide.

I filtered by series and added all my series prefixes like NAC: to the user title. I then filtered by title and added the book names like 1 Corinthians to the series prefix. It took a while to fill in some of the series that used unique title for the book volumes, but it worked well.

It changes my passage guide from this:

The Flanary's:

That feature in Word looks great, I would still love to see a full "zipscript" though. Ive used it tons on social media, messaging and emails.

I also loved the search in Wordsearch 12, but will withold further comment until I'm better acquainted with Logos

Hi, Flanary's, I'm sure by now you have found the answer to your thought about Zipscript, but just in case I thought I would give you my experience. I use Zipscript all the time. Since it is a separate software I've loaded to my computer it loads up each time I turn on or reboot my computer. I've set Alt-Z as my Hotkey and it works beautifully in Word, Gmail, etc. wherever I want to use it.

Blessings,

BroJames

Good thought. I have mine hotkeyed to F9, but hadn't considered checking out the file setup. I guess I assumed ir was WS data dependent. Thanks for the tip

How did you edit the titles? I can't seem to make any changes to their names.

In the library, click on the information button (an i with a circle around it as shown in the upper right corner of the screenshot) then click on the pencil beside the title to change it.

Or you can do the same from the resource.

Open the panel menu - three dots icon and open the Information pane

Then you can edit either the full title or the abbreviated title of the resource.

By far the "instant verse study" was my favorite. I would be on a verse and wanted more information so I would highlight the verse and click on the instant verse icon, my library would show up and allow me to select the sections then it would do the search and I could then open up the Wordsearch word processor and click and paste, the entire search would now be available for me to go through,  edit, add, comment on any part, highlight etc, it had a integrated word processor, then I could save the study for future reference. And read or make changes as I saw fit. I have a lot of studies saved into the word processor that I don't want to go through all that time and effort to redo, it would be nice if that part of Wordsearch could transfer into Logos.

I have jumped into Logos with both feet, purchased a Platinum package, listened to MP Seminars 3, training videos about 8 times each...and appreciate all that Logos has/is doing to make this unexpected change as seamless as possible. Thank You and God bless

Yes, that was my favorite feature as well. Logos has committed to bringing in our personal documents from WordSearch.

Hello

The features that I find most useful in WORDsearch are:

1. When I highlight an individual verse in one of my Bibles (I have at least 10-15 showing so I can click from translation/paraphrase to another) then all my most-used commentaries, including Adam Clark, Living Commentary by Andrew Wommack, Open Your Bible Commentary Page by Page Old & New Testament, Matthew Henry's Concise, Jamieson-Fausett-Brow, J Vernon McGee's Thru The Bible and the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge bReuben Archer Torrey also highlight the same verse.

This is a very useful tool when I am doing my own Bible readings.and preparing the Sunday talks, that in 'normal' times I give to our Anglican church plant.

2. The ability to highlight either Biblical text, from whichever of my Bibles I believe gives the clearest rendering of the verses as well from other books in my WORDsearch collection and paste them into my Microsoft WORD script (I used to work in radio) for my Sunday talk or for use in a Bible study.

I haven't found these, so far, in LOGOS and therefore I am still mainly using WORDsearch when I need these functions.

Blessings

Peter

Just checking exactly what you mean here.

  1. Are you clicking a verse to make it "active"
  2. Are you applying an actual highlight?
  3. Are you moving to that place in a Bible?

Depending on which you mean, Logos should be able to do it

You should simply be able to select a portion of text, copy it (using Ctrl/Cmd-C) and then paste it into Word. For more control over layout and formatting you can use the Copy Bible Verses Tool - https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015518272-Copy-Bible-Verses

Hello Graham

Thanks for these suggestions.

I will try them out and see if I can get them to work.

It's like learning to use a new type of music radio software for the first time. It all comes down to getting the parameters right for how you wish to use the software and how you categorise the music you will be playing.

Blessings

Kevin A. Purcell:

3. I forgot how much I liked having the current live Bible verse highlighted until saw someone above mention it.

If a current verse highlight feature is added, please make it a user controlled option so if a user prefers not to use it the current verse highlight could be turned off.

Due to my particular vision needs I would not use this feature.  Additional highlights beyond what I have already created would make reading more difficult for me.  However, I respect the wishes of those who would like it.  Making this an optional feature which could be turned on or off would satisfy any preference.

If this is done, please add this option to Program Settings or to the Visual Filters drop down list rather than adding a potentially distracting icon to an already full Resource Panel Toolbar.

Thank you

I would really appreciate if you could update InstaVerse. It is a small program that was owned by WordSearch. It has not been updated in years and does not play well with Windows 10. It is a stand alone program that allows you to paste a Bible passage into any program by typing the reference and then using a hotkey. It is so much quicker than cut and paste. Also it used to open a pop up window when you hovered over a Bible reference in any program. This amazing part of InstaVerse does not work any longer. The only way I can get instaVerse to work in Windows 10 is to install it before each use. I must uninstall it after each use or it will not work the next time I boot up my computer.

The next time I buy a new computer I am afraid that all will be lost!  I must have WordSearch installed on the computer to use any other Bible than  the 2 that came with the original program.  The program only uses Bibles that are installed by WordSearch.

I would gladly pay extra money for this program. It saves so much time in research (by bring up the reference in a separate popup window) and writing (instantly inserting a Bible passage with only the reference).

It is an orphan program that nobody seems to care about. Hopefully FaithLife will see the value in it and use their resources to bring it up to date. Thank you!

P.S. Please keep it a stand alone program so that it can be used with Microsoft Word, the internet etc.

At the web level, the functionality of InstaVerse can be duplicated with Faithlife RefTagger, but it requires the website to enable it.

User Books was a great tool. I used it to work on a variety of books I am writing as an author. I know Logos has something similar but, I just found  Wordsearch more manageable to use. However, I do plan to see what Logos has.

Logos Wiki  has links (LT = Logos Training, VT = Verbum Training)

Personal Book creation & updating uses the same process in Logos & Verbum.
