Problem with print to Adobe pdf

I am getting the following error when printing to Adobe pdf. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.
%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
AthelasLogos-Regular not found, using Courier.
02qloav not found, using Courier.
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%
Stack:
[126 104 102 105 100 0]
()
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
BTW, I really appreciate that Logos finally implemented this "Print/Export" feature. I love it.

Likewise I'm able to print to PDF using Bullzip PDF Printer (one of a variety of freebie print-to-PDF utilities). I'm not certain it's retaining the LogosAthelas font, nor how to confirm that (short of poking through the hex code of the PDF file itself), but it's choosing a nice one that looks close to it anyway.
Could it be you've got a problem with your Adobe Distiller installation? See if there are any updates available and download them. Or if that doesn't work, then try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

I have the same problem with Distiller. Other PDF writers appear to be able to embed the Athena font, though it gets renamed on the way. I guess this is because Athena is embedded in Logos, and Logos doesn't appear to be sending the font correctly to Distiller.

I seem to remember that Fonts can have restrictions on Copy / Imbed.
I don't have a PDF writer, so can't test any of this. Might be interesting for someone to test with different fonts, including the "free" stuff that is very open.
Also, if there are Font Copy / Imbed settings in the PDF Formatter tool that is getting this problem ...

That's true, but it generates a different error message. The problem is that the Athena font doesn't exist as a font file on the PC, which Distiller expects. It works fine for any 'normal' system fonts. The font is obviously getting sent somehow (or other printers wouldn't work), but I think the way that Logos is downloading the font to the printer is suspect.

This is an Adobe support article we've sent customers to in the past when confronting font licensing issues: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/323/323155.html.

I'm with Mark on this one. The error given at the top does not match the Adobe article, and does not seem to be a license issue.
Error says invalid, rather han restricted etc.

However, couldn't one of the solutions still work?

Yes, Maybe.
I don't have the product(s) that this thread is about, so maybe best I walk away and play elsewhere, leaving this for those with the actual errors.

"Solution 3" (use a different font), obviously works, but is hardly a solution.
"Solution 4" (don't embed the fonts) also works, but it means you end up with the wrong font and the character/line spacing goes crazy.
The other solutions don't work at all.
Another Adobe knowledgebase article says this: "Acrobat Distiller, however, cannot access fonts that are not installed
on the computer and substitutes Courier when you print or export to PDF." Although the context is entirely different, this sums up the problem. Athena is not 'installed' on the computer, it's merely embedded in Logos, so Distiller can't access it.This is my personal Faithlife account. I can reproduce the issue and also find that Solution 4 works with no detriment; it correctly prints with the correct font (to my eye it appears to be Athena).

Hi Melissa,
I suggest having an additional settings for "print" Font that will allow users to choose the font for reading on screen and for printing.
Thanks.0 -
When print to "Adobe PDF" with font setting set to a non-default font, logos4 crashed every time this operation is performed. It works fine when printing to "Bullzip PDF Printer". The crash log is attached8015.Logos4Crash.txt.

Regarding my printing to PDF, my Acrobat Pro 7 will not install the distiller to send a item to print as a PDF file. Adobe just says this version isn't supported the last time I looked...if anyone has any different news can you please reply to this?
Also, anyone have any experience with CUTEPDF another free PDF printer app?
Never mind I went with Rosie's suggestion and it worked fine. Thanks.

Has anyone experienced a size limitation to the number of pages?

I use CutePDF regularly without problems. Though I currently use the Pro version, I have used the free version in the past. I realize that you no longer need these details, but someone else may.

I've never had a size limitation with BullZip PDF Printer. But I don't think I've ever tried anything more than a few pages.

I started a new post at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/20061/150974.aspx#150974 relating to a possible limitation on the Export/Print function.
