Yes, this Christmas promises a bit of angst ... missing family and friends. But maybe looking into the night sky, with ones trusty Logos might be fun.

In the southern sky (from North America), Jupiter is closing in on Saturn (orbits). Jupiter's the big bright one, even at dusk. They'll almost overlap at Dec 21.

The last viewable was approx 800 years ago (1226) .... so, open up your Logos!! Below, is a description of the almost-conjunction, followed by a Wikipedia (contribute!) list of religious activity. I was surprised at St Francis ... I guess the American election intruded.

Didn't research our Sumerian and later Greek  'powers' ... I'm sure Paul may have been referring to them.

My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.

I suggest using an astronomy app or website such as Stellarium (https://stellarium-web.org) to understand the night sky. It's more geared towards that than Logos Bible Software is. I've been taking a free astronomy master class on Zoom lately. Learning a ton and loving it! Truly, "the heavens declare the glory of God!" That much, Logos can tell you about. But for specifics on constellations and such, use an astronomy app.

This was a really interesting book that deals with some of that above. You may not agree with everything he has to say but definitely worth a look

I hear this one is good too but I haven't read it... yet: https://www.logos.com/product/165966/the-great-christ-comet-revealing-the-true-star-of-bethlehem

Yep ... it's Christmas, and time for 'the star'. I had to think first, whether to capitalize 'star'. I'm guessing yes, but that'd be theo-logical.

And yes, astronomy apps definitely trump Logos, in the same fashion medical textbooks trump which herbs to reduce a strained ankle (Akkadian).

Actually, I'm looking forward to the Jupiter/Saturn view. Even with strong binoculars, you can see Jupiter's moons, like pearls. And Saturn's rings. In combination??

But St Francis (earlier religious) remains the point. We have his statue, complete with birds. Plus our real birds love it ... came from a monastary in north New Mexico. On Dec 21, we'll watch, to see if he looks up.

I have read read a summary/reference/discussion in Finnish related to this book:

He supports the conjunction theory but also adds that there was Zodiacal light (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zodiacal_light ) pointing effect helping to find the house. It is speculation, but interesting.

Gold package, and original language material and ancient text material, SIL and UBS books, discourse Hebrew OT and Greek NT. PC with Windows 8.1
