When hovering over a verse reference in HALOT or BDB, the verse text in Hebrew is displayed in a pop-up window.  I would like to see several versions (Hebrew, Greek, English) of this verse when hovering over the reference (like in BibleWorks).  How can I set Logos up to do this?

Thanks,

Andrew

The pop-up will use your preferred bible, which appears to be a Hebrew bible. If you want to see it in another version, Prioritize another bible or use the GO box and enter the command: set preferred bible to NIV (or any another bible). You won't get multiple translations.

If you hit F7 while hovering your mouse over a verse reference, you'll be shown a popup of the content of the verse in your top 5 prioritized Bibles.

That sounds great, Andrew!  But when I hit F7 while hovering my mouse over a verse reference (in a lexicon, for example), the pop-up just disappears. :-(

Have I misunderstood something?

You should see a strip across the screen, which shows the verse in your 5 top bibles.

Sorry, no strip.  Maybe I need to change my settings?

What OS are you running? What specific version of the app are you running?

I don't think there is any setting that affect this

Are you running Logos on Windows or Mac?

I just tried this for the first time (and I use Mac). It worked perfectly, but the user does need to make sure to use the "FN" key in addition to "F7."

Good point - although it depends on keyboard. Mine has standalone function keys that don't need any additional key press.

I'm using the same and it works fine for me.

Can you post a screenshot (use the paperclip icon in the forum editor) to see where in which lexicon you are looking up a verse and we'll see if we can reproduce what you are seeing?

My cordless keyboard requires Ctrl-FN-F7 (under Windows 10) and I believe it's keyboard-dependent

ThanksSad.. that or FN+F7 disables/enables my laptop touchpad!! Windows uses Fn for additional functionality with the F1-12 keys.

I have separate function keys on my keyboard and do not need to press Fn in addition.

Without pressing F7:

After pressing F7:

I've also tried Ctrl + F7 just for fun. No difference.

Not sure which keys you need to press on your keyboard to invoke the same thing (or if another software or OS function grabs it away - e.g. Logos doesn't get the Ctrl-P that would invoke Print/Export, because Techsmith Capture captures it and invokes the screenshot). I tried to emulate your setting with the BHS as preferred bible - just a smaller lexicon and no idea what I'm looking at - and Ctrl-Fn-F7 does it for me:

Very strange

I wondered if it might be related to using the multiple resource display option - but it still works for me.

To check Mick's idea about key mapping - do you have Microsoft Word on your computer? If so, what happens if you select a word in a document and then press F7? It should open a thesaurus function.

I use Microsoft Word (Version 2012) for Microsoft 365 Microsoft Office and when I press F7, something called "Editor" starts and checks the spelling and grammar.

In which case I'm afraid I don't understand why pressing F7 when hovering over a bible reference does not show a list of translations.

I'm on the same software and it works for me. If I am in MSWord it opens the editor; If I am in Verbum, it opens the compare text tool.
