Will the spelling errors in the Dake software ever be corrected?

In the Dake Annotated Reference Bible software which came in with WordSearch Bible...  there are a number of spelling errors.

Is there someone on staff at Logos that will be correcting these errors? With the resources at Logos seems it would be an easy project that would really improve the product.

An example is found in the Dake Bible Notes at Luke 4:18.

Dake's notes read: "Anointed to oreach"

Of course it should be: "Anointed to preach"

This is just an example, I am sure there are hundreds more.

God bless

Leon

Hi Leon

Do you happen to know if these errors were present in the Wordsearch environment or if they have been introduced during the migration process?

Yes the errors were in the WordSearch software.

They were just carried over and there are many more.

Graham,

The spelling errors are in the WORDsearch version. So I would assume that they also present in the originals. So, correct me if I'm wrong, unless permission is given, I doubt that Logos can make those changes.

Now I would not know the legal ramifications of correcting spelling errors.

But since there is no more WordSearch, it would truly be sad if simple spelling errors could not be korectid.  (big smile)

Leon

Any spelling errors found in the WordSearch titles would be carried over to the Logos edition. I'm not aware of any typo reports from their WordSearch days.

However, now that they're in the Logos ecosystem as well please feel free to use the "Report Typo" function. It can be accessed by right clicking on a word.

As a word of warning, just because a typo report is submitted doesn't mean it will be addressed right away. We also tend to let typos found in the original source material remain, although we do have some leeway to correct obvious errors when we can.

Thanks on the info for sending in typo errors.

BUT for some reason I can't get it to work.

When I select a word and then right mouse click....   It then selects the whole window rather than a drop down box for the report typo.

Interesting...  I have read this: https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015575172-Report-Typos-in-Logos1 and believe I am doing it right, but some other setting must be affecting it.

Oh well.

Do you mean that when you select / right-click you get more of the text highlighted than the specific word - something like this?

If so, try clicking the Selection option at the top-left of the menu. This should restrict the selected area to the specific word and you should be able to report the typo from there.

YES that did it!

I just submitted an error.

Do they give you a confirmation of any kind? I didn't get one.

Would they ever let you know if they fixed it or not?

Is there a place you can go to see a history of what you have submitted?

Thanks

Leon

I believe the answer to all of those is “No”!

There used to be a confirmation email but that was turned off sometime ago - I forget why

It was tied to Libronix-related stuff.
