Hello, I'm attempting to create a proverbs by topic reading plan going through one topic worth of proverbs each session. I have another resource that has all the passages for each topic (give or take about ten passages per topic).

I know I can get the reading plan done the loooooong way, making a custom reading plan and painstakingly adding every single verse into the add passage option for each session 😬.

Soooo... my question is: Is there a better way? There must be some other way to do this. Does anyone have a magic work around for this? Otherwise I'm gonna be typing in each of the 500+ references in order to make a plan for this...

I know I can make these passage lists by selecting the text in the original resource to grab verses for the passage list out, however it seems that a passage list isn't very helpful in this case. When I go to add a passage list to a reading plan all I can make happen is setting one passage per day. Is there any way to get the passages to stop at points to create sessions? Or to even create a separate passage list for every category and then add that entire category passage list into one session? Even with creating a few smaller passage lists per category all I'm able to accomplish with them is to get a reading list with one passage per day.

Here's some sample categories from the resource I'm working with that I'd like to add to each reading session:

Anger

Proverbs 14:16 Proverbs 15:1 Proverbs 15:18 Proverbs 16:14 Proverbs 19:3 Proverbs 19:12 Proverbs 19:19 Proverbs 20:2 Proverbs 21:14 Proverbs 22:8 Proverbs 22:24–25 Proverbs 25:28 Proverbs 27:4 Proverbs 29:8 Proverbs 29:11 Proverbs 29:22 Proverbs 30:32–33

Beauty

Proverbs 4:9 Proverbs 6:25–26 Proverbs 11:22 Proverbs 24:3–4 Proverbs 25:11–12 Proverbs 31:30

Calamity

Proverbs 1:24–27 Proverbs 5:11–14 Proverbs 6:14–15 Proverbs 10:14 Proverbs 10:25 Proverbs 10:29 Proverbs 11:27 Proverbs 12:13 Proverbs 12:21 Proverbs 13:3 Proverbs 13:17 Proverbs 13:21 Proverbs 15:6 Proverbs 17:5 Proverbs 24:21–22 Proverbs 27:10 Proverbs 28:14 Proverbs 29:1

Conflict

Proverbs 6:16–19 Proverbs 10:12 Proverbs 10:18 Proverbs 13:10 Proverbs 14:9 Proverbs 15:17 Proverbs 16:7 Proverbs 16:28 Proverbs 17:1 Proverbs 17:9 Proverbs 17:14 Proverbs 17:19 Proverbs 18:3 Proverbs 18:18 Proverbs 18:19 Proverbs 20:3 Proverbs 21:14 Proverbs 22:10 Proverbs 25:20 Proverbs 25:23 Proverbs 26:17–19 Proverbs 26:20–21 Proverbs 28:25 Proverbs 29:8-9 Proverbs 29:22 Proverbs 30:32-33

Even a way to add more than one passage at a time to a session within the custom reading plan tool would be better than nothing. As it is, I’m only able to type in one reference at a time. I tried adding multiple, separated by commas, but if I try then the add button is dimmed out and I can’t add the passages. I’m only able to add them one reference at a time.

Judging by this forum conversation, it appears that this isn't possible in Logos. It seems the best I can do will be to take each of the 60 categories from the book I'm using, make each it's own 1 session reading plan, and then add them to the correct dates in a custom reading plan...

Man... wish there was an easier way to do this... even just if I could paste in multiple passages into the add reference to session menu in the custom plan...

I'm amazed it's such a difficult process.. maybe I'll reconsider whether I even want to do this plan via Logos.

In the meantime, please reply if you know of any way to do this that would be easier than the way I just described.

Thanks all.

Liam, I've given this question a good deal of thought and I've arrived at a possible solution, but there are issues.. If you're using the source I think you're using, you have the possibility of acquiring it in Kindle format. Which with effort can be converted to docx then compiled into PBB which can be used to set up a Reading Plan. That I believe is the most straight forward method of dealing with this issue. Others may chime in and refine this alternative or shoot it down all together.

Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

You can add headings to each section of your passage list and then read through one section a day. It would not create an automatic reading plan, but the text of the verses would be right there in your passage list and you could just read each section. They could all be in the same passage list.

See below links for examples on how to use separator keys to create custom plans.
