In our library when app had been running a while the library seems to be ordered into most used, then we can prioritise over that,

Rather than the generic minimal setup, could we maybe sync that usage data if not already on server, and then have an option of say download your top 50/100/150/200 most used resources, then you would save both on bandwidth, and user frustration of having to figure out what you are missing, and for those of us without a permament or subject to a metered internet connection it would be really useful

There is a Most used column available in the Library which you can sort on.

You could then select the top N resources and download them.

However, the problem is that if they are not on your device you couldn't use them - so I don't really see how this would work.

Can you expand a bit further please? I think I'm missing something from your idea

What I am proposing is this:
When you shut down your version on you current PC, this most used data gets uploaded and synchronised with server (I think it probably already is)

When (re)installing on new machine, and the installer would give you a choice of "user preferred resources" and go check the server list and use that to download your preferred # of resources at your next clean install, without you needing to perform further downloads. or worry about what was or wasn't downloaded on install..

The Generic "most users option"  is OK, but if it could or would download the ones you actually used, so offline on a train for example, your not faced with "with book is not on this device.." especially if it is in your top 25-50-75-100 etc of your used resources.

Also with some of us lagging behind in the tech front, and/or local space is an issue, I don't really want to use space on resources I wont ever use

Thanks Dominic

That makes it much clearer - at least to me!

Here are a couple very easy workarounds that work today in Logos/Verbum 9:

Before making a planned switch, one can quickly tag the most used however many resources on one's existing installation and allow that tagging to sync. Then one can batch download every resource with that tag to the new installation.

If one is worried that one's device might die before a replacement is acquired, necessitating an unplanned new installation, one could update the "Most Used"-tagged resources in less than a minute every month or on whatever other 'back up' schedule made sense.

As an alternative workaround that requires no preparation whatsoever, one could simply download all of the resources that show up when the Library is filtered by "Read" or "Reading", or the "Read" ones plus the "Reading" ones when the amount read is above a certain level, achievable via sorting by reading progress. This method works because reading progress already syncs across all installations.

I hear you SineNomine, the workarounds are helpful if you are organised enough to schedule and do it, but the whole point is this shouldn't need any user interaction apart from selecting the option in the installer, IMO, but thx
