Syncronization weirdness

I tried using Logos for Mac again with one of my layouts (Hermeneutical Spiral). I used it a bit and then updated it to the most recent snapshot.  Then when I was done and then returned to Logos for Windows, and saw that I had two versions of the file name with one being '(2)'.  (see below) Is this normal behaviour?

In certain cases, documents (i.e. Notes, Layouts, etc) will be duplicated if there is a sync conflict. It allows you the choice of seeing which one is correct and deleting the one you don't want. We'd prefer to not automatically decide for you and make the wrong choice, obliterating your data in the process. Delete the one you don't need and then re-sync and it should go away.

If I am only working in Logos for Mac, then shut it down and then open Logos for Windows, why should there be a synchronisation conflict? I could see conflicts from running both programmes simultaneously, but I'm not understanding why a conflict should occur from separate uses and updates of the same layout.
