How do I find Cross References?

Maybe this is a stupid question - but I can't find out how to find a Cross Reference. In Ephesians 5:14 - it makes reference to several OT Scriptures i.e. Isaiah 26:19 : Is 25:8; Ezek 37:1-14; Dan 12:2; Hos 13:14 - but I can't find how to turn on the Cross Reference Feature to show the Cross References. Somebody please show me the obvious.

Thanks

-Mike

So there isn't an option that simply displays the Cross References in the Display of the text - you have to initiate a Cross-Reference lookup as you encounter them?

I have worked with other products where you turn on the Cross-Reference Feature and they appear as you navigate thru the text. I was just wondering if that was a feature - but I didn't know how to toggle it on/off.

    Thanks for your help/suggestions.

Mike, you probably have the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge in your library. (It comes with all the base packages except Original Languages.) It's a whole book of cross-references, oveor 572,000 of them. If you open that alongside your Bible and set them both to the same Link Set, then the TSK will scroll along with your Bible and you can see a whole bunch of cross references for each verse. I like to tile the TSK panel horizonally below my Bible, like this:

(You'll noticed that I've got the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, which is a new revision of the same old classic: 100,000 new cross-references, etc.)

The reason there isn't just a simple toggle on/off of "the cross references" is because there are different systems of cross-references developed by each Bible publisher (in the footnotes and/or margins of Study Bibles, for instance), as well as the separate Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (the most comprehensive one available). Some cross-references are indisputable (an obvious quote of the OT in the NT, for example), but others are somewhat subjective. Since Logos gives you the freedom to work with whatever is your preferred Bible, they can also give you the freedom to work with whatever set of cross-references you prefer. I think NTSK is the best available for now, but there might conceivably be others developed down the road, so they didn't want to hard-wire it into your Bible.

If you have "Bible text only" selected, cross-references will be hidden from view.  Here are my screenshots that show them displayed.  Click on the superscript and they crossreferences turn to links which will display the text when the mouse hovers over it.

Thanks Rosie for the heads up on the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge --

I have the hardcover edition of the New Treasury and hadn't realized that the one that comes with Logos is the old version. There really is quite a difference between the two: 100,000 more cross-references, cleaner and easier to read formatting, and new features like symbols that mark contrasts or critical verse references.

I went and bought it right away [8-|]

I'm surprised no one went for the other obvious answer: the Explorer has a section for cross references:

As others have stated, cross references are relatively subjective; this section gets its data from books in your library that have been tagged (by us) as being books of cross references (like Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, et al).

I like the Explorer concept, but it too often doesn't meet what I need. Usually I am reading a block of scripture, and as I read I come to a verse about halfway down that I want to see information for. however, the information that is displayed is for the verse at the top of the window.

Of course, as I conjured up this complaint I figured I'd try clicking on the other verse to see if the explorer would change verses. No love there, but if I highlight a any portion of the verse the explorer quickly catches up. Now the explorer has become useful to me again :-) Thanks.

    Hi Philip

However, as suggested above, neither the 'Information Panel' or the 'Power Lookup Panel' have this problem as the reference under the mouse is quickly brought to the top without even so much as click.

Thanks, David. The Explorer is a Tool that I have not made much use of lately. Time to start using it more often and getting it more engrained in my habits!

They always took to long to populate for me. I'm in the midst of a complete re-install to clean up my computer. Once I have Logos back up and running I'll give them another look. I've used them, but the explorer seems to be really quick at updating.

I chose a combo - TSK linked to same link set and turned off the Bible Text ONLY so I can mouse-over and see the ref's as well.

Great feedback from everyone - what a knowledgeable group.

    Thanks again.
