WOW! Tom Constable's Commentary Updated to the 2022 Version Of His Notes

I have waited it seems forever for Tom Constable's commentary to be updated from the original 2003 version. He has updated his commentary notes each year, and the only way to access the updated material was through the website he puts them on.
Thank You Logos!

Can’t wait to verify this. I’m sitting in busy LAX and can’t at the moment. This is GREAT news.

Was that a free update? I don’t see a recent version on the Logos website only the 2003 version: https://www.logos.com/product/4466/tom-constables-expository-bible-study-notes

This looked good enough to check out. So I took the plunge. Very worthwhile just looking at the passage notes of what I've been currently studying. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the heads up on this! I found Constable’s notes a little while ago, and was almost going to make them into a Personal Book to have the latest edition.

Thanks so much Faithlife for the update. I so appreciate Constable's insight and study.

I had Dr. Constable for several classes while a student at DTS. Godly, humble man. What's so good about these notes are their clarity. Highly recommended, especially now that they are updated to 2022. This thread got me to buy!

I do not think the update to the Tom Constable notes is what many have said. Some kind of update to the file was made (hence the timestamp of 2022-08-03T19:52:08Z). But, if you look under the citation section, it still lists the year 2003. It seems that these are not the 2022 notes.

I think that updating the citation and copyright in the metadata got overlooked when updating the notes. In addition to Rick's screenshot, if you look at the second footnote in the notes on Genesis, it cites articles from JETS and BibSac from 2013 and 2017, respectively, thus I fully believe this is the 2022 version of these notes:
Fn 2 reads "See Jason S. Derouchie, “The Blessing-Commission, The Promised Offspring, and The Toledot Structure of Genesis,” Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society 56:2 (June 2013):219-47; Jared M. August, “The Toledot Structure of Genesis: Hope of Promise,” Bibliotheca Sacra 174:695 (July-September 2017):267-82. "
The outdated copyright line Logos brings is: Constable, Tom. 2003. Tom Constable’s Expository Notes on the Bible. Galaxie Software.
And I believe those precise citations from BibSac and JETS should be linked in a Logos edition to https://ref.ly/logosres/gs-jets-56?ref=VolumeNumberPage.V+56%2c+N+1%2c+p+216&off=1649 and https://ref.ly/logosres/gs-bibsac-174?ref=VolumeNumberPage.V+174%2c+N+695%2c+p+267 EDIT: in fact it seems this resource has no footnotes linked at all (which may be typical for a Galaxie resource) and thus FL should be honestly classifying this as a Readers Edition.
Have joy in the Lord!

Did the notes get expanded in some places where you can see the expansion by comparing the old version with the new? I read his notes used to be 7,000 pages now they’re 12,000, but there are no page numbers to confirm this (at least on mobile).

Is there any way to keep both the old and new addition? Sometimes an author changes a position to something you don't agree with. It would be nice to have both additions to compare.

No... or not really.
1. When a resource is updated and is considered the "same" book, any updates are automatic and overwrite the previous. When an update is a new edition, it is a separate resource and requires an additional purchase.
2. Conceivably there is a way, sort of. If you have not updated the resource yet, you could take the time to create a personal book version of the original.

I checked the beginning of many books and it states “Notes on Genesis 2022 Edition, Notes on Numbers 2022 Edition,” same for others I checked, so it must be the 2022 notes 📝👌

This is good news, although I wish they would update the resource on sale to reflect this

I stand corrected! For Faithlife to make such an update at no cost is simply fantastic!
