Freeze Beta 2: in Bible Search following a previous Analysis result

I reported the previous Analysis result when it produced a freeze in Verbum 10 SR-1. This result comes from after updating to Verbum 10.1 Beta 2.

Hi Dave--Is this consistently reproducible for you? Are there certain steps and/or searches that seem to repro (e.g. starting the search in another view and then switching to analysis view, etc), or is it consistently happening whenever you switch to analysis view?
Hoping that you can consistently reproduce but I'm guessing that it's just happening (seemingly) randomly for you ... wanted to check either way.
Let us know and we'll continue digging in on this one. Thanks,
-Ronny

Just now I ran an Analysis in one Search tab and ran an innocuous (no morph) Analysis in my second Search tab without problems. When I switched back to the first tab, Verbum exited (no crash)! The tabs are in separate tiles and I had de-activated the first one before running the second Analysis.

Unfortunately that log file doesn't seem to include the unhandled exception indicated by that event (0xe0434352). I suspect it was the crash you reported at https://community.logos.com/forums/t/211602.aspx, but if you don't think a passage guide could have been running at the time then perhaps you can recover more information from the event viewer about this crash?
For the hang in your original screenshot, I haven't been able to reproduce that behavior. If you are able to reproduce it and have time, a screen recording might be helpful. Does the entire application freeze and prevent further interaction, or is it just that part of the search panel that appears to be stuck?0 -

I just reproduced that freeze/hang with the same love neighbor input in 10.1 Beta 3. The screenshot tells the story of what happened after I clicked the Analysis button. The entire app is unresponsive but using c. 4% CPU and some network. But there is no App event in Event Viewer! I had run other Anaysis reports without problem. The Passage Guide crash had been fixed in Beta 3.

Is there only the one Search panel with Analysis view open? The logs indicate there are two data grid UI controls being created/loaded at roughly the same time:
2022-11-04 07:44:31.2275 INFO 1 OurDataGridControl | Created DataGridControl HashCode=59022478
2022-11-04 07:44:31.5079 INFO 1 OurDataGridControl | Created DataGridControl HashCode=39384838

2022-11-04 07:44:32.6133 INFO 1 OurDataGridControl | OurDataGridControl_Loaded HashCode=39384838 loaded=False
I haven't thought of how that could happen, but I'm wondering if it is relevant.0 -
I was able to repro log statements for multiple data grid controls like those above by loading a layout snapshot with more than one Search panel open to Analysis view. It didn't freeze the app for me, so it might not be relevant to the hang.

As mentioned above I have two Search tabs and that was one scenario where Analysis had been active in both tabs.
This is another hang where all seemed well with Analysis in the first tab, then a Passage search in the other tab, followed by the same love neighbor input and Analysis freeze in the first tab!
EDIT: I mention the last search in the other tab prior to the hang. The log should provide more detail.

Again, nothing is recorded in the Event Viewer at the time of the freeze (13.45). It records this at the time I ended the app:

It took a little more time in Logos 10 SR-2 on my Windows 10 21H2 machine, but the scenario of two Search tabs is the same and I alternated inputs before a third(roughly) Analysis of love neighbor produced the hang in the first tab (same screen view as earlier screenshot).
Unfortunately, I found logging had not been enabled!

Still getting a hang with Analysis in Beta 3, but in the second tab and with a louwnida: datatype (24 results).

Dave--Thanks for your continued diligence on this one. We're honestly struggling a bit to track this one down right now since we haven't been able to reproduce or get anything very helpful from logs.
From your posts, it seems like this is not consistently reproducible for you, right? But you have identified a process that seems to (eventually) surface the bug? The process is (roughly) to have two search tabs open in separate tiles and switch back and forth between the tabs executing searches where you're using analysis view in at least one of them...is that about right?
Even if you can't reproduce the issue easily in a screen recording, it might be helpful for us to see exactly the type thing you're doing when you get the hang (even if you aren't able to capture the hang in the screen recording itself). Any chance you could post such a recording for us?

I'll give it a go, but now it is hanging on "works of the devil"
Bible Search, Top bibles, 5 results in Rom-Rev. Same "Frozen" view as other screenshots. It appears to be ready to produce the final output as it hangs.

Thanks Dave. Awesome that you were able to capture the actual bug. Hate to ask, but it would be tremendously helpful for us to see the full application when you're doing this. Any chance of getting a second screen recording of the full application, following these same steps (even if it doesn't repro the freeze this time)?

Much bigger this time- had to zip it. Freeze reproduced in Beta 4

Thanks for the recording. It appears that only the active Search panel is doing any work, but the log indicates that two grid controls were created. I modified the logging in 10.1 RC 1 so these grid controls will identify their data source, which should make it clear if we really are getting two UI controls to display one set of results.
Please post your logs once you're running 10.1 RC 1 or newer and this happens again.0 -
In RC1 I repeated the queries from the full screen video a couple of times and the Analysis results for "works of the devil" displayed OK! On one, the first Search tab was open but not active and I opened another tab before repeating the queries in the second Search tab.
Then I switched to the first Search tab, ran the love neighbor query and the Analysis produced a hang.

Startup after the crash took a long time and the Verbum logs are concatenated.

Thanks for posting the logs again. They confirm that the two data grid controls are created for the same results, which I think is the cause of the hang and those WpfDataBinding errors.
Do you recall if you ever experienced a hang with Analysis view like this in Logos or Verbum 9? I'm wondering if the problem only happens with a newer version of WPF.

I have not had problems with Analysis in Logos 9, but I don't use it that much. I only got into this issue because of other users!
The WpfDataBinding error doesn't happen with every hang, but the ease with which I can generate a hang is ridiculous:

For good measure, here is a hang in Logos 10.1 with WpfDataBinding errors
