Two questions based on this passage:
ESV Eph 2:7 said:so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
What is the antecedent of "us" i.e. to what do it refer?
- Select "us"
- Right click to open context menu
- On the left side, read down until you run into the entry/entries for the referent for "us"
To whom is he showing ...?
- select "show"
- right click to open the context menu
- select the lemma for show on the left
- select Bible Word Study on the right
- scroll down to Case Frames
- Expand the detail reference information
- Find your reference (Ephesians 2:7)
- Identify the Case Frame which is Agent-Content; note that this frame does not contain information as to whom the showing is directed. Grammar/Syntax/Semantics of the text do not answer the question. Any answer is not directly in the text although it may be implied by a broader context in the text.
