Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. What is the antecedent of "us" i.e. to what do it refer?

  • Select "us"
  • Right click to open context menu
  • On the left side, read down until you run into the entry/entries for the referent for "us"

To whom is he showing ...?

  • select "show"
  • right click to open the context menu
  • select the lemma for show on the left
  • select Bible Word Study on the right
  • scroll down to Case Frames
  • Expand the detail reference information
  • Find your reference (Ephesians 2:7)
  • Identify the Case Frame which is Agent-Content; note that this frame does not contain information as to whom the showing is directed. Grammar/Syntax/Semantics of the text do not answer the question. Any answer is not directly in the text although it may be implied by a broader context in the text.
