Clicking link in note crashes Logos 10

I have created a couple of links within a note that link to other Logos resources that I own. This has worked well until Logos 10 but now, if I left-click the link within the note, nothing happens. But when I right-click the link, Logos crashes.

After reviewing some related posts, I just created a new link within a note, thinking maybe the other links were created before Logos 10 came out. I also created a new note with a new link. Both of those produced the same crash.

I hate to report a bug because I am very impressed with Logos 10.

I have Logos 10.1.0.0052 (set up to auto update).

I'm on an iMac with Ventura 13.0.1. I have 16g RAM with a 3 GHZ 6-core Intel core i5. Note: the same crash happens on both IOS (I have an iPhone 12 and iPad - both up to date)

I am not sure how to create a crash report. (Nothing appears on my screen after Logos crashes.)

Suggestions?

Kathy

I am not having this issue (but I am on Windows 10). It would help if you could enable logging and try to recreate the crash and then post the logs to this thread. Others (including someone from Faithlife) will be better able to diagnose the problem then.

Here are the instructions for Enabling and Submitting Logs.

Also, do you have all of your library resources downloaded to your hard drive, or are some of them stored in the cloud?

Thank you, Kiyah. I didn't know how to enable and submit logs so this was helpful. I pasted the Crash text below.  Are there others in the Logos Logging Utility I should include?

My desktop resources are on my hard drive. That's not the case with IOS, where most are stored in the cloud.

Please upload the logos.log file (use the paperclip icon to include as a file as opposed to pasting the text into the thread)

    I'm on an iMac with Ventura 13.0.1. I have 16g RAM with a 3 GHZ 6-core Intel core i5

I'm using a MacBook with the same version of Ventura and can't reproduce the problem.

How are you creating the links to the resources?

I'm new at the Logos Logging Utility (bet you can tell) so sorry for not getting this right.

How I've created links to the resources:

    1. I highlight the text in the resource that I want to link to. Then I use the kebab to select "Copy Location as HTML"

    2. In my Note, I will highlight text as the location of the link. Then I select the link icon and paste the Html into the window.

That's worked many times in the past. Maybe there's a change in 10?

Does this crash happen on any link or only certain ones? Can you put your cursor in the link, then click the link icon, copy the url and paste it in this thread?

Andrew, I didn't think about going back into older notes. So I went back to links in notes created in Logos 9 or before and those work. Here's the url from one of the links that worked: https://ref.ly/logosres/nigtcgal?ref=Page.pp+29-30&off=2403

Here's a new one, created in Logos 10, that crashes immediately every time: <a target="_blank" href="https://ref.ly/logosres/lbd?hw=Balaam,+Son+of+Beor&amp;amp;off=1635">Balaam, Son of Beor</a>

Thanks for helping me dig deeper into this.

    Running L10 on Windows 11...

I have many links to resources in Notes... all work with no problem.... here's how I do it...

    1. Create the note or edit it...

    2. Put text into the note that represents the link I am about to make...

    3. Open my Logos resource to the position in the resource that I want the link to go to

    4. Highlight the first word of the paragraph in the position of the resource (or book)

    5. click on kebab in the resource file (3 dots in upper right hand corner)

    6. Click on "Copy location as L4"

    7. Go to the note file and highlight the text I put into the note file

    8. Click on the "chain icon" or link icon...

    9. Paste the L4 link from the resource into the space provided...

    10. Click on "Save".  It's not saved until you click on "Save".

That's it.  It works for me.... [8-|]

Then I use the kebab to select "Copy Location as HTML"

When I do that, i also get a crash when right-clicking the link

If i copy it as URL it is fine

The different html strings produced are:

    URL: https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.#Balaam

    HTML: <a target="_blank" href="https://ref.ly/logos4/Factbook?ref=bk.#Balaam">Factbook | Balaam</a>

Thanks. I do the exact same thing except I savethe link as an HTML. Why do you choose L4? I wonder if the different link formats work differently.

Thanks, Graham. That looks like my problem then. I'll switch to URL instead. Thanks for taking the time to work on this.

Thanks for the information. I'm not seeing a crash on my machine, but it also isn't getting handled correctly. I suspect it's a difference between Mac and Windows (I'm using Windows).

I'll create a case to get this fixed.

Interestingly I do get the crash on Windows - log attached

    0677.Logos.log

This is with 10.1 SR-1 (I ought to update to SR-2) and I haven't tried it with the beta version of 22.0 as yet.

EDIT: Crash is still there in 10.1 SR-2
