LBD/Factbook Entry SUGGESTION: Apkallu

Consider adding an entry to the Lexham Bible Dictionary on the Mesopotamian apkallu, complete with the most up-to-date bibliography (which would be the main pay-off). I searched my entire library and the store by headword and the only resource with an entry is the DDD.
Then of course the next logical step would be to create a Factbook entry for the apkallu. And people could then tag their resources that refer to the apkallu with Factbook tags.

Thanks for the suggestion.
We've made a case to create a new Factbook page for the concept.
I'm not sure about creating an LBD entry but I'll pass it along.0 -

LBD was wrapped up in 2016, but I might be able to work it in to a different Lexham reference project down the road. The apkallu are mentioned 3x in LBD, though there is no specific entry on them. It was difficult to anticipate every possible headword that could have been included in LBD. It's not unusual for DDD to be the only one to cover some of these niche headwords. Heiser's Demons has a pretty detailed discussion of the apkallu (pp. 115–26). When I search my library for the word "apkallu," I don't find a lot of hits in dictionaries or encyclopedias other than DDD. I see a lot of references in Heiser's books though, plus hits in academic journals and monographs and some commentaries.

Thanks for responding Doug. You guys did a great job on the LBD. The very up-to-date and extensive bibliographies are invaluable (the articles are pretty good to [:)]). But I understand if you've come to a stopping point with it.
I just thought it would be good to have a Factbook entry with a key article in a resource people are more likely to own than the DDD since the DDD is not typically included in base packages. And thanks to Dr. Heiser, topics like the apkallu are becoming a lot less niche, at least for Logos users. If you can work more topics like this into another Lexham resource that could display in the Factbook that would be wonderful.
Perhaps there could be a Lexham Encyclopedia for the Ancient Context of Scripture or something like that. It could cover the specific ANE/Second-Temple/Greco-Roman context of scripture in a way that respects and highlights the supernatural worldview of the ancient writers. And of course it would include awesomely extensive and up-to-date bibliographies [:)].

Agreed that it would be useful and that DDD is not as widely available. The future reference project that I was referring to is not-exactly-but-somewhat-close to what you describe—a handbook covering topics that would be relevant to people interested in them because of Heiser's work.

That was pretty much what I was thinking but was trying to describe it in normal words for a reference work. It's great if you already have something along those lines in mind. Can't wait to see what becomes of it.

I would love to know more about this planned production

There's not much more to share right now. Basically, we're working on a reference work that could cover topics like demons, deities, or other things related to the supernatural ancient worldview in the Bible, ancient Near East, and ancient Mediterranean. I don't have any more details ready to share.

Thank you for the suggestion, the Factbook page for apkallu has been created and will be available in the next update.

It doesn't have the DDD article mapped to it. Also, I can't add a Factbook tag to resources with the word.
